Fitbit Versa 2 can't connect and stuck on setup screen

My fitbit versa 2 was working fine for about a month until recently it couldn't connect from my phone.  My phone would detect the fitibt (device found screen), then always times out and shows me a connection failure screen. I restarted my phone and performed a factory reset on the watch.  That didn't fix the issue.

I then tried to connect my fitbit to the windows 10 fitbit app.  The windows 10 fitbit app behaved as if the connection was successful, but my fitbit was still stuck on the set up screen.  I disconnected the fitbit from the windows 10 app and now I can't get anything to even reach the device found screen.

I've tried to do a factory reset from the setup screen:

  • hold power button until fitbit powers off
  • hold power button until fitbit powers on
  • quickly release and press the power button again until I feel a long vibration that signals the beginning of the factory reset process.

but this process doesn't seem to be changing anything.

Any advice?

I tried that, but it didn't work.  It was able to sync to my brother's phone  (same model).  I did a factory reset to my phone and it resolved the issue

"REQUIREMENTS

  • To set up Fitbit Aria Air, Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 2, or Fitbit Versa 3, you must use a compatible iPhone, iPad, or Android phone. You can’t set up these devices on a Windows 10 device."

In that case, my android phone isn't able to connect to the versa 2.  I've also tried to connect the versa 2 to a friend's phone with no success.  How should I approach this issue?

All the phones I've tried to connect it to were galaxy s9's, which are on the list of compatible devices

@Lloydtu  try starting at the beginning and make sure you've followed all the steps - click for directions. I've got the S8 and it works fine for notifications.

when I bought this waste of money it said you could set it up on windows 10 so I had to upgrade to windows 10 .. another $100 and now you are saying I can't set it up even with windows 10..  so that is $300 down the drain.. (I stupidly bought 2 ).. so now what, I just trash them and tell everyone I can not to deal with fitbit...
