Fitbit Versa 2 in an infinite boot loop by itself and never coming back

My Versa 2 is dead, it has stuck into an infinite loop and keeps showing the dreaded Fitbit Logo every now and then. I have tried all the tantrums multiple times like

1. Holding onto the button and then restarting.

2. Changing the clock face.

3. Uninstalling and reinstalling Fitbit App.

4. Restarting the mobile device.

5. Drain out Fitbit watch battery and then charge it back and retry.

6. Contacted Fitbit Chat help retried all the above. But it doesn't help.

Customer care only came up with an email saying it's out of warranty buy new and take 30% discount. To me it sounds like a cheap trick to make the customer keep buying Fitbit devices. I have bought 4 Fitbit devices for my family till now. This watch we have used very sparingly, and it just got into this boot loop by itself without us even touching it or playing around with it. So, if such are the Fitbit devices quality that they will become dead by themself Fitbit should name them as self-destructive watches that die by themself after a less than normal use in a couple of years and force the user to buy new. I would think twice before buying another Fitbit device in future and would like to avoid it, to save myself from getting in the same situation again.

Beware of Fitbit!!

Hello @doyourbittoo

I understand you’ve tried countless troubleshooting tips to get your Versa 2 working again to include reaching out to Fitbit Customer Service. I understand your frustration as I would be too. We can try and set it up as a new device. I’m not making any promises but it certainly is worth a shot at this point. If your interested here’s how: Go to your phone and look for Versa 2 in the list of connected devices. If your Versa 2 appears on the list but says it’s not connected please tap on Versa 2 on the Bluetooth list then tap unpair. (If your on an iOS device tap on Versa 2 then tap Forget this device) It your Versa 2 doesn’t appear anywhere on the list of connected devices just continue with my instructions. Basically just make sure Versa 2 is completely gone off of Bluetooth. I’m going to try and set up your Versa 2 as a new device. Don’t worry you will not lose any of your data. The only date you will lose is anything that occurred “after” your last successful sync to the Fitbit App. Now make sure that you have the latest Fitbit App version and your Android phone or iOS phone is updated. Now go to the Fitbit App and log out. Next go to your Bluetooth on your phone and turn off your Bluetooth. Next turn off your phone for 1-2 mins then turn your phone back on and turn your Bluetooth back on. Now log back into the Fitbit app as you normally would with your email address and password. Next tap your profile picture then scroll down and tap Set Up A Device. Pick Versa 2 in the list of trackers and follow the onscreen instructions. When you are asked if you want to replace your Versa 2 say yes.

🤞I’m crossing my fingers that this helps and provides you with a resolution. Please let me know how it goes if you decide to try it.

Thanks @SunsetRunner , I followed all the instructions literally as you have mentioned but the Fitbit app is not able to find the Versa 2 in the "Searching for Versa 2..." through bluetooth step after saying "Yes" in the last step as mentioned by you. I guess it's for the same reason, as the Fitbit watch is not yet on and is stuck in the booting step with Fitbit logo coming ang going forever. And the old device is gone from the profile as well.

🥺 I’m so sorry that didn’t work for you @doyourbittoo My other choice is to guide you through a factory reset but unfortunately we can’t get to the setting in the Versa 2 Watch.

I’m having the same issue. It feels like planned obsolescence.

I let mine die completely then I charged it and the boot loop stopped but now I can’t access anything from the touch screen. All I can do is look at the clock face.
