Fitbit Versa 2 locked and can't unlock with phone as it's no longer paired

Hi,

DESPERATE for assistance please.

My Fitbit versa 2 is locked and says "unlock with phone", however I stupidly removed the device from my Fitbit account and now realised I shouldn't have as I can't re pair it as I need to be able to see the 4 digit pairing code on the screen which won't display because of the lock.

Can someone please help!

I'll be eternally grateful.

Have tried all the usual things including:

- Resetting watch my holding down button for 10 seconds

- Turning Bluetooth on and off (Bluetooth is working find and picks it up)

- Uninstalling and reinstalling Fitbit app- Trying web version

Basically, I need a way to unlock a Fitbit versa 2 WITHOUT a phone!

As mentioned above, this is a factory reset, and allows you to perform a setup.

Now if the tracker is still attached to your fitbit account. It is a 10 procedure to change the pin code and can be done through any phone.

Hello. I tried several times but it didn't work for me. How long after you release the bottom right button until your device vibrates? I released the bottom right button but my device didn't vibrate at all, and it just turned off but not reset. I'm quite annoyed because it was too hard to do a factory setting

This doesn't work for my Fitbit 2.   I'm presuming the "back button" mentioned is the button on the left side which is the only button on the watch.

------------

I mentioned earlier "Fitbit 2" I should have said "Versa 2".  Your factory reset instructions (hold button for 8 seconds, etc.) doesn't work.

I was having trouble getting the 8 second reset to work.   I chatted with Fitbit Support and Luis said, "It's easy to get it wrong, so give it a few tries, have patience and be as precise as you can. It took me several attempts to get it right on my watch when I had this issue, and I'm "the expert" on this devices.

i eventually got it to reset.

If the unit is still connected to your fitbit account. Even if removed from the phones BT, it should take less that a minute to reset the passcode.

Yes the best answer does work, but timing is critical.

Once it gets setup, please set the passcode only for Fitbit Pay

The reset button on the side, holding it for 10 seconds had reset it but problem not fixed. I've reset it 4 times now and in the same situation. I also couldn't fix my fitbit and removed it from my account to reset it up again trying to fix it. So you guys are not the only ones. My screen has been clitchy so I was actually trying to fix that when now its locked out 🤦‍:female_sign:

My dad passed away last year, and he left his fitbit with me, it was paired to his old phone that I no longer have, I have been trying to factory reset it, using Ur instructions, and just like many many others, Ur instructions don't work, you also say "second vibration" as if there's a first one, I don't get any vibration what so ever while following the instructions you gave to fix this for the versa 2

@CJKrypt is the watch locked with a pin code? If not, you should be able to set it up to your account.

Alternatively if you know dad's fitbit login, log into his account, through your phone, you can than reset and disable fitbit pay.

The pin lock is really only needed for fitbit pay.

But yes the hardware restore does work, but the timing of the steps are critical..

Did you ever figure out how to unlock/factory reset your Versa?

It doesn't work!

The Versa, with 3 buttons, has a different process to unlock.

On the watch, hold all three buttons for about twelve seconds. This will trigger the 2-button hardware restart after about eight seconds.

- When the Fitbit logo appears, then disappears, release the bottom right button, while continuing to hold the left and top right buttons until you feel a strong vibration. This indicates the factory reset was initiated.

Here again, timing is critical.

Thanks. This worked perfectly. Was now able to get my 4 digit code and re-sync with my phone. You solved what Fitbit customer service could not solve. All customer service seemed to want to do is sell me a new Fitbit!

Popping in to confirm these methods here work, though maybe you have to do them over and over and the KEY PART is catching the device when it's just booted on again while in the app, having selected to add a new device (your listed model) and for the app to be searching for it via bluetooth for pairing

For me it was:

- Do the hold 8 seconds thing, feel the long vibration. I got a red cross saying 'data not cleared successfully' or something like that. I did this multiple times like a chump, always getting the red cross, but maybe it helped?

- Go to your app. Select top left profile icon, 'set up a device'. Just before selecting your model, start the '8 second' process so it should have shut off and turned on (line across black screen then the fitbit logo appears?) again just as you selected your model and the app is saying it's looking for the device.

- IT SHOULD FIND IT! It'll then give you a pairing code to pair your account and the device! Follow the links, give all the permissions.

- The device will probably tell you it needs to update the tracker/watch. It may be slow af if you're like me, and have to do it by bluetooth.

It may - literally - take all night. Don't bother. Be somewhere you can connect your phone to a different wifi network, or use SOMEONE ELSE's hotspot on their phone

- The device should update, and now you have the watch unlocked, and completely like new, giving you the tips.

- Me? I still went onto the watch and into settings, selected 'about' and did a factory reset via the watch itself. You'll have to pair the watch to your phone and the app again, and you'll have the hassle of updating again (access to a proper - not your phones hotspot - wifi network is a must). I just got a lot of those 'device not cleared' successfully' red crosses and maybe even one during the pairing process that i don't remember the details of, so this felt more secure, knowing the watch has really been reset.

- Now do all the setup stuff you normally do, the watch is unlocked, reset, and good to go.

After that update and setup, your fitbit should easily sync with fitbits company servers via it's own mobile data connection. But if you have issues: Check that the watch has all the permissions it needs - so nearly, if not all of them - by going to the fitbit apps settings on your android phone. While there, disable background and foreground data completely. Make sure to turn off bluetooth, wifi, hotspot, and location. Turn off your phone.

Turn your phone on and enter your passcode to load completely. Wait 10 seconds. Go to the fitbit apps settings page in android 'Settings' again. re-enable background and foreground data. Turn on bluetooth and location. Turn on your watch. Go into fitbit. It should be all good now but:

You will always want an external wifi network to connect to (not your own phones hotspot) unless you want it to take literally half a day, in my experience.

@Alex0913 I'm assuming that you have removed the tracker from the Fitbit app.

If the Versa is still connected, let's reset the password.

If the watch has been removed, see my post above.

My phone will not do the factory reset.  I hold the button down, but it returns to my clock face and still shows the Unlock with your Phone message when I try to scroll to the left.  I am at my wits end!  How long should you hold the button down?  I've tried 3 minutes and still the same result.  Please help!
