I see it is 50 M waterproof, and says OK in the rain or pool. Are they deliberately keeping the word OCEAN out of there due to Ionics that are failing after going into the ocean?
Is the Versa OK in the Ocean, and will Fitbit warranty the Versa if it fails after going into the ocean?
My decision to buy the Versa hinges 100% on this point.
Thank you!

The Ionic is fine in the ocean and the Versa will be too. Just make sure you rinse it off in clean water afterwards.
Edited to add that they dont mention the ocean because it is set up to log swimming distance by counting laps. So though it can detect swimming in the ocean it cant measure it.

The site I saw says water resistant to 164 feet. If that's true we should be able to dive with it ( or most of us anyway) can someone confirm this depth?

I bought the versa after i had confirmed with them that it would be ok to dive with. Dove today, maximum depth 70 to 80 feet and it isn't working and won't charge.
