Did you mean:

Fitbit Versa counting heaps of steps with random arm movement.

I know this has posted a bit quiet before but none that I see in times of recent.

So, I got my Versa today via Fitbit . com - firmware: 32.33.1.30 and everything seems to be working fine and smooth.

Now - I am wearing this on my non-dominant arm- my left, so am I just being too dramatic? I don't expect this issue with a Fitbit nonetheless!

When doing any movement with my left arm such as scratching the whole length of my arm, or spinning my forearm in front of me or even pretending to drive - it counts a whole lot of steps. Granted, this is on my non-dominant hand so I won't always be doing such extreme movements, but it worries me how accurate the step counting is in general? I've yet to try it with driving but I fear it will just be the same as people have said years ago on these forums.

What bothers me is that I do don't see anyone complaining about this of recent? Do I just have a defective product? 😞

And yes, I have tried the Drivebit app and it works perfectly- will certainly use it when driving but in general how accurate will the step counting be when it counts steps when I scratch the length of my arm and such? Will it just add a bunch of steps unknown to me as it just swings my arm to throw something?

Is there anything I can do to remedy this? I know people have toggled around between dominant and non-dominant arms and altering this setting in the app also. Is this still an issue people are facing with the Versa?

Hi, do not worry, this is normal behaviour of the Versa, whether you wear it on your non- or dominat wrist. As soon as the Versa detects a forward movement of your wrist, such as you described, it will see it as steps, cause the Versa counts steps based on the movements of your wrist. Try this: sit still in your chair and move your arm where the Versa is, for- and backwards about 25 times and see what happens. This is what I mean to say.

I have noticed the same thing with mine. I got the Versa to replace my Blaze and it way over counts my steps. I think I may return it and go back to my Blaze.
