Fitbit Versa distance inaccurate

I bought the Fitbit Versa a couple of weeks ago, and love the way it works! But, it seems it isn't doing a very good job at measuring distances,  which I think is one of the main features an activity tracker is supposed to be flawless at. 

 

I've compared the distance of a run I do regularly on a couple of devices and apps: Apple Watch, Geonaute GPS tracker, Fitbit Charge HR (connected GPS), several iPhones, Samsung Galaxy S9, apps like Strava, Runkeeper, Nike +, Google fit. They all seem to have more or less the same distance at the end of the run, which is: 6.8 - 6.9km. This is more or less correct, as the measured track is 1800m long (I run 3 laps = 5400m) and I have to run an additional 2x725m (1450m) to go to the track and get back home.

Today I did another run with the Fitbit Versa. And it measured only 5,86km.  Which is more then 13% off... Meanwhile I tracked the same run with Strava on my Samsung, which is using the same GPS: 6,8km. You offer a close collab with Strava, but why aren't the distances in sync? And even more, when I do the same run with the Versa a couple of times, the distances aren't the same. For example: I did the same run last week with the Versa: 6,36km. How do you explain this? My tracking apps don't seem to have any problems with locating the GPS signal or staying connected. My Phone is in my pocket which is about 0-50cm from the Versa, bluetooth is on.  Connected GPS is on and working fine the whole time. The run is also showing up on the map in my fitbit app correctly, but the distance is way off. To me this seems to be a software issue, which should be easily resolved in another software updated. Please fix this issue asap! If my old Fitbit Charge HR was able track the distance correctly via the fitbit app, why isn't the Versa?

The reply from moderator is ridiculous. I never had issues with my Alta. My Versa worked fine for about two weeks and the distance got screwy. Today, I checked my walk at a break. It showed 2300 steps and .95 miles. Seemed pretty close. At the end of my walk, I had 6300 steps and 3.88 miles. No way is that correct.

I just spent over half an hour on the phone with customer service.   I've been having the same issues as detailed here with my Fitbit Versa.  I got no help or solution other than being told that my phone must have a gps problem since the Versa doesn't have gps installed.  I am so disappointed as I've had other Fitbits and never had this problem.  When I use map my run my phone's gps doesn't drop the distance.  How have others resolved their issues.   They were not willing to allow me to return the Fitbit at this point. Any suggestions appreciated

Sorry I can't help! I returned the Versa because of this issue.

How long did you have the Versa before returning it? I've only had it 3
months

it is problem between versa and phone connections. with android i have notice that versa does not hold connection between android and watch up. it will drop after some time. i lock fitbit app on android for not leaving connection.

 

but i have second phone iphone 6s for running and so i use it without any connection problem. fitbit versa is more designed to connect with iphone not android. problem is that iphone software use line of iphones. same soft but every android phone maker change android littlebit and it is hard to build app what works fine in every android phone.

There was a big software update about a year ago, after that I stopped having issues.

is supposed to do😂

What type of Garmin do you use? That's going to be my next one I am
finished with Fitbit. They've done nothing to address this issue with
new.

This was not a helpful response and negates how this watch was advertised. We are telling you this is inaccurate, so defending the inaccuracy with "how it works" doesnt change the fact that it's inaccurate.....disappointing.
