Fitbit Versa having trouble when submerging it in water.

Went swimming with my Fitbit versa and it started glitching out. I have a video of it as well vibrating with the screen flashing between settings uncontrollably. When I filled out the return form for the warranty they screwed up my order and are sending me the wrong one. I called right away (within minutes of recovering the email about the order) to have it changed and was told there is nothing they can do for me except send me a shipping label to send back the new one and re-fill out the form. Which means I will now be waiting over 3 weeks for a replacement. So far my experience with the Fitbit versa has been horrible. For 300$ I expect more quality then what I’ve received so far. They also refuse to acknowledge that there is a waterproofing issue with the versa. But I can see that a lot more people have had this issue as well. So if you are reading this and considering buying a Fitbit I say don’t waste your money. Better off with a garmain or dare I say it Apple Watch. Because after your year warranty expires you will be out a Fitbit and the money you spent because they do not provide an extended warranty.

Hi, you are correct: the Versa is not waterproof, but water resistant up to 50 meters under water. It's therefore always good to dry your Versa thoroughly after a swim.

As stated above my Fitbit was glitching out in the pool while swimming. I have a video of it as well. There was also moisture inside the sensors on the back that measure heart rate etc. I don’t see a solution in your comment with regards to fixing a broken waterlogged Fitbit. The buttons no longer work as well. And most upsetting is that the replacement is not the same as the one I requested. Which was a mistake on their end but I have to pay the price for it. Thanks but no thanks.

The reason for no solution for a broken waterlogged Fitbit is that there is no solution for it, only a replacement.

The reason the Versa and every other watch on the market is because of a rolling made in the 1960's. There is no legal definition of waterproof because at some depth the seals will fail.

For the Versa this is 50 meters as explained by @SunsetRunner, but that is just touching on the standard.

This rating is tested by slowly lowering the pressure. In real life, it will only withstand shallow swimming, snorkeling is considered out, diving of the edge my new ok, but diving of a 3 meter board is a no-no. 10 -15 feet, depending on currents, is about all that the standard will allow.

Hello @Jessie123, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you too @Rich_Laue  and @SunsetRunner, thanks for all your help.

@Jessie123 , I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Please note that the Fitbit Versa can be worn in the lake, the pool or the ocean, still, it’s important to thoroughly dry your elastomer band and tracker and remove any debris from your device after wear in the water. Take in consideration that non-elastomer accessories should not be worn in water. To minimize damage to your watch, avoid any direct contact of sunscreen or insect repellent sprays with your tracker or watch. Remove your tracker while applying these sprays.

I sincerely apologize for the inconveniences some of you have experienced while wearing your Versa while swimming. Thanks for your patience and understanding, I hope you have a great day.

I bought it because it had a swim tracking function.  Went swimming, waterlogged Versa, and just 2mos outside of warranty.  Imagine!  This is my 3rd Fitbit to die at the 14mo mark, Swim or otherwise.  Getting an Apple because I can get extended warranty through Verizon.  After as many fitbits as I have bought to save the Apple money, I figured it was time.

Fitbit never said that they make a waterproof watch, for the simple fact that it is illegal to classify a watch as waterproof. At best it is water resistant.  In fitbits case, the tracker should not be subjected to strong currents or sprays like from a shower. No diving, etc

I should be able to swim laps - especially with the swim exercise tracking on. I am not an idiot - I didn’t go diving with it.

I was swimming laps with the Versa lap counter on... I wasn’t diving - I am not an idiot.  I never swam with my old ones, and they all died on the magical out-of-warranty-date, too.

Fitbit only point is that the term "waterproof" can not be used with reference to a watch or any electronic device.
