Fitbit Versa major jump in steps when I didn’t have it on me

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I had a shower last night and took it off like I normally do and I forgot to put it back on before bed, so normally it would just do nothing right? Well I woke up this morning with notifications saying I have achieved the 20k, 25k, 30k and the 35k badges! So I went and grabbed my Versa and there it was 35,000 steps that I know I didn’t walk...

what is going on and is my Fitbit faulty, it’s only 2 weeks old!

When you took the Versa off, where did you place it? What was it on or next to?

If you look at the graph, was their a particular time the steps where recorded, or did they get recorded throughout the night. Could something like a fan or clothes dryer vibrate it?

You can remove them by logging the time as driving.

Sorry, without being at your house, I can not say, we need you to do the investigation and report back.

It was sitting on my tv cabinet all night till the morning and hadn’t
moved. Nothing on the tv unit vibrates and also my partners Fitbit Versa
was sitting on it as well and didn’t calculate the steps?

So I just factory reset the Fitbit Versa and deleted my account and made a new one and now my Fitbit Versa will no longer connect to my phone it’s coming up with an error com.fitbit.HTTP error 500.

No impressed at all with this product, how do I fix this problem or will another arise straight after this one

I'm not sure why one would delete their account, but the 500 error is probably thet known iOS error that Fitbit is working on.

My suggestion would be to try a different device to setup the tracker.

A restart both soft and hard should have been tried first.

I deleted the account simply because I’m not going to be proud of a false
accomplishment so I wanted a new account to start fresh.
It can’t be my iphone that’s playing up....the Fitbit device is the one
that is meant to calculate the steps Not my iphone? And the Fitbit had
been sitting in the same spot for 10 hrs give or take so the device is
faulty.

I have my receipt and I’ll be returning it tomorrow and getting a Apple
Watch :watch:️

Fitbit has had so many troubles with their product which is why I was VERY
sceptical when buying one. And this is why.
Better your software and I’ll be happy to be on the Fitbit band wagon.
Thanks

If your simply looking at the user complaints then your view of Fitbit has been skewed. I would first investigate apple with that same eye, ignoring the thousands with no problems,  you will quickly find yourself worried about buying one of their products. Apple expects their watch to last a maximum of 3 years. Fitbit will not say what their life span is, Apple is proud that they expect to force their users that upgrade every 3 years.

I have many friends with tye same Fitbit for 4 or more years. Out of the Fifteen trackers I have had. One got lost, one after 4.5 years lost a button, one was recalled, and after 4 years one has band problems. The rest are all still being used.

I really haven't asked many of my friends as to why they threw their AW's in the drawer and purchased Fitbits.

Sorry but I haven't seen any studies to show where one company makes a better product then the other. Even the average phone gets replaced every 2.5 years, a laptop doesnt last much longer and a desktop averages 3 years. A refrigerator today is designed, on purpose, by the manufacturer to only last 10 years. My refridge is over 30 years old.
