Fitbit Versa not recording accurate heart rate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

First post here, so I apologize if this question has already been answered.

I have a Fitbit Versa synced with my Samsung Galaxy S9+. As of last night, my Fitbit has been recording an inaccurate heart rate. My normal resting heart rate is usually under 70 bpm and last night my Fitbit recorded several hours in the cardio range. While I was driving today, it recorded as high as 170 bpm. I manually measured my pulse to compare and they were significantly different.

So far, I've tried turning my Fitbit off and back on, cleaning the heart rate sensor with a cotton swabs and alcohol, and turning the heart rate sensor off and back on.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there anything else that I can do?

Thank you so much!

@LostinWonderlan welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm happy to assist you with your Fitbit Versa since it's not tracking your heart rate accurately. By the way, thank you for troubleshooting this issue before contacting our forums.

If you haven't done so, please restart your Versa as described in this help article. This will refresh your watch internally. After this, make sure of the following details:

     * Make sure your device is positioned correctly on your wrist:

  • Tighten the band just enough so it doesn’t slip on your wrist. Your device needs a solid contact with your arm to reliably track your heart rate.
  • Heart-rate tracking may not work with certain accessory bands, especially if they’re loose fitting. Move the band to a slightly different position on your arm—a little higher or a little lower.

Keep me posted on the outcome! Smiley Happy

I have been having the same issue as well. Thus my activity calculation has been giving false information and reading a very high number active for 245 mins etc. I have tried to power off my device but it’s still doing the same thing.

@ShanaBarksdale it's great to see you in our Fitbit Community! Since your Versa is not tracking your heart rate accurately either, please try the troubleshooting steps and tips that I shared in my previous post. After trying those steps, monitor your Versa and see if the issue gets fixed.

I’m having the same problem with my versa. I’ve already tried your tip of restarting it. That didn’t work. I am finding that troubleshooting directions aren’t easy to find.

I’m not sure what those steps were but will have to look back and see. I have powered off the device and it’s not helping.

I don’t believe this will resolve the issue. I’ve had the same band since purchasing my device. Also when it’s closer on my wrist the heart rate is extremely high for just a resting position 150 and more. I believe this may be a glitch as it just started about 2 weeks ago. Thanks.

I had the same situation and it happened after I charged my fitbit with a fast charger and then it was haywire.  What I did was charge the fitbit from my laptop after wards and so far after 10 minutes its still stable.  I will keep track of it and see if anything changes. Also I factory reset my device and syncing with my phone before I charged it from laptop with the charging cable

Ok thanks. I will try that. It appeared to do a little update this morning. So if that doesn’t work I will try your methods. Thanks.
