I just got my Fitbit Versa yesterday and last night was my first night with it. When i synced it this morning, the slew didn’t log. I searched other message boards and followed instructions..
i waited an hour and kept checking to see if it logged
reatared my device
and reset my device.
none of that worked.
I also tried to manually enter my sleep but when I did it said I slept all in deep sleep for the whole duration of my sleep. That can’t be correct.
any help is appreciated!

I called customer service. Said to spend one more night with it and call back if the issue persists.

I have had the same problem. I got my Versa two weeks ago today. The first two nights it worked great, then after that it stopped. It either doesn’t track at all, or starts tracking hours after I fell asleep or stops tracking hours before I wake up. I’m going to factory reset the whole device and supposedly that will force the new firmware update that’s being rolled out very slowly. If that doesn’t work, I’m probably going to return it. Then save up for the new Apple Watch that will come out at the end of the year. That one is supposed have the built in sleep tracking.

I think that two things can be done to help with sleep tracking. The device is oversensitive in my opinion and activates easily if the quick view is enabled and/or if the versa is worn loosely enough so that the single button is pushed by your sleeve or whatever. So then, if you are sleeping, the versa thinks you woke up, which is why (maybe) you get sleep cycles with interruptions in the middle even if you have been sleeping.
So, I turn off the quick view on the versa when I go to sleep and wear it on a tighter notch on the band so that it is as stable as possible. Works (most of the time).

Do you think having a tattoo stops it tracking heart rate and sleep? I got a Versa yesterday and never tracked sleep. Had no problems with my Flex 2

@Kezmo Yes, the tattoos can be a problem depending on the color and density of the ink. Some report problems and others not so much. Can you position it on your other arm? Maybe place it on the inside of your wrist? I thought the Flex 2 didn't have a heart rate sensor so I'm surprised that you say your Flex 2 tracked detailed sleep. Did the Flex 2 give simple sleep info?

Hi, thank you for your reply. Fitbit flex 2 just tracked asleep, restless or awake. I will try my versa on my other arm tonight and see if that works

Yes i think so! Does it track your heart rate on the wrist with the tattoo? If not then I think the tattoo could be the problem.. it was for me... however, my friend has tattoos as well and wears her Fitbit on that arm and it does fine. I have a full sleeve with no empty skin and she has a few places where tattoo doesn’t cover so that could also make a difference. I attached a photo of my tattoo so you could see. I’d try switching at wrists and see if that makes a difference.

Thank you. No it won’t track any heart rate on my left arm! I’ve got 2 tattoos one either side. As soon I put it onto my right arm it tracks fine. I’ll just have to wear it on my right arm to track my sleep

How do you factor reset your fitbit versa

This are steps for factory reset.
However, please be informed that erasing your Fitbit device erases any stored data, personal information, and saved settings.
Before that, sync you Fitbit with phone app. If you wish to proceed and if you can navigate the screen of your Versa, just press the button from the clock face turn on the screen and then swipe the screen of your Versa until you see Settings app > About > Factory Reset or Clear User Data.
