Fitbit Versa not uploading run to Strava despite being connected

I recently upgraded to Versa from Alta HR.  I tried a run yesterday recording via 'run' on the exercise app.  That was 12 hours ago and it still hasn't uploaded to Strava.

1.  Strava is connected.  I can see previous runs on the watch.

2.  I tried disconnecting the two and reconnecting

3.   I tried downloading the TCX file from Fitbit but I got the message 'The activity TCX file could not be downloaded. We are looking into the issue.'

4.  I logged out of Fitbit on the computer and back in

5.  I did not bring my phone intentionally, so I could see if it worked (I am aiming to record solely on Versa, and not require the phone)

6.  Fitbit must be using the GPS because it shows distance and pace, though there is no map or anything on the compute to show it (I don't know if it's meant to show a map of my run)

7.  The run shows in my activities, and the results show on my watch

8.  The battery is mostly full

9.  It connected beautifully on the Alta HR.  A run recorded only on Strava (shortly before I upgraded) transferred the information to the Fitbit without me even knowing it could do that.  (I'd forgotten to wear the Fitbit that day)

Any ideas?

Tara

@Qofcheez Welcome! Thanks for being part of our Community! There are some clarifications for the Strava integration. Strava will only sync GPS activities from Fitbit so all others won't show there. As stated from the help site:

Note the following types of activities won't sync to Strava:

  • Non-GPS activities
  • Previous activities that weren’t tracked by Strava.
  • Duplicate activities—that is, if you already recorded an activity with Strava, a Fitbit activity that occurs at the same time won't sync.

Remember that the Versa doesn't have integrated GPS, it will use your phone's GPS to log this data so if you didn't have your phone with you no GPS data could've been saved.

Regarding the failed export, try clearing cache and cookies on your browser. You could also try using a different browser like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.

Let me know how it goes!

Thank you that did help.  The export worked when I tried it on Firefox.

I hadn't realised it wasn't an integrated GPS.  I admit I made assumptions based on it being able to calculate both distance and pace in real time all by itself.  I'll have to continue carrying my phone, but at least I won't have the headache of digging around for it every time I need to check my pace!

@Qofcheez thank you so much for your update and confirming that Firefox helped you with the data export. This information may help other members in the same situation so I appreciate it. Hope you are enjoying using your Charge 2 and that you reach your fitness goals!

I hate to say this, but the troubles aren’t over. I can download the TCX file on Firefox now and manually upload it to Strava, but since my original post, the fitbit still won’t upload automatically. I am carrying the phone now (but not recording on it) and the GPS data does show (cool! It gives me LOADS of great data now!).

Also, when I manually upload the data, it’s not sending the results to my watch when I open the app.

Out of the blue, after flipping through menus the data appeared on my watch today (a day late) but no idea what I might have done to cause it. I didn’t make any changes.

Any end to my woes? It would be nice if the data would sync to Strava once I’m done recording the run on my Versa 😞

Does sound familiar.  Incidentally, did yours upload only after you put the fitbit on to charge?  I just happened to charge mine today, and recall my husband saying his app would only update after he charged his.  Mind you, my Versa had plenty of charge in it already.  About 50%

No, I last charged it Sunday evening, and the last four activities transferred to Strava some time after Monday afternoon.

The watch really shouldn't be involved at this point. I can see the activities have gone from the watch, to the phone, to Fitbit's website, to my dashboard. Just waiting for some process to wake up and copy them over to Strava for me.

That sounds exactly like what's happening with mine.

I think I found the solution

After a run, it shows me the stats.  But it turns out, you can scroll further down to see the laps.  At the bottom, it's got a button that says 'done'.  As soon as I started pressing that my runs upload within minutes
