Fitbit Versa showing calories burned first thing in the morning after not being worn all night

I just got a factory replacement for my first Versa which had multiple issues. The replacement Versa is still counting thousands of steps during a bike ride, but thus was an issue with Alta and HR2 as well that it seems now they’re not willing to fix.

However, for two days in a row I have woken up in the morning, taken my Versa out of the charger, synced it with my iPhone Fitbit app and both times it’s showing hundreds of calories burned already for that day. Why is this tracker showing hundreds of calories burned during the time when I’m NOT wearing it??? I have never seen this issue on any Fitbit device I’ve owned before.

All my Fitbits have always been that way.  Let's say you arise at 7 AM, your body has already burned 7 hours worth of calories.  I don't remember off hand but I believe mine usually shows around 500 calories burned when I put mine on in the AM and sync. That number will certainly vary by sex, age, build, etc.
