Fitbit Versa stuck on "Unlock with your phone" screen

I received my Fitbit Versa last Christmas as a gift and was delighted to own it. It worked perfectly until about 3 weeks ago when it got stock on the "Unlock with  your phone" screen. This toggles with the clock screen only (now showing wrong time).

I have tried every suggestion I can find online through you tube etc. Took it back to place of purchase - no solution - could not get it to sync with phone (Huawei p20) Problem is when it looks for the 4 digit number, it cannot be read from the Fitbit. 

Would love to get it sorted.

How do I use the device lock on my Fitbit device?

The process takes less than 15 seconds to unlock, but removing the tracker from your account will only add more problems and the user will not be able to unlock with phone. 

 

Fitbit OS hardware reset.

On the watch, hold all three buttons for about twelve seconds. This will trigger the 2-button hardware restart after about eight seconds.

 

- When the Fitbit logo appears, then disappears, release the bottom right button, whilst continuing to hold the left and top right buttons until you feel a strong vibration. This indicates the factory reset was initiated.

 

- This process may take several seconds, and eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays go to Fitbit.com/setup.

 

- If you fail to release the bottom right button in time or otherwise don't follow the procedure precisely, the Fitbit logo reappears quickly and boots without factory reset.

Unlock Versa by phone

@Dudley.Downes see my first post in this thread. 

Basically open Fitbit app, go to the Versa settings, Device Lock, confirm using phone unlock code, setup a new Pin Number. Let the tracker sync.

Despite all my efforts and following instructions, I still cannot unlock my fitbit versa using phone un-lock.
Of course I am very disappointed because of the money invested and the time spent trying to solve this difficulty.
Where to next?

Hello @ChampionsTY is your versa still connected to your Fitbit account? 

If so let's open the Fitbit app. 

Tap in the top left corner to get to Account

Now tap on the Versa and then Device lock, or reset pin. 

You will be asked to prove you are the phones owner by putting in the phones unlock code. 

Now we can set a new pin. 

Once the pin is changed let's change pin to only protect Fitbit Pay and not the whole Versa.
