Fitbit Versa turned off, won't come back on

I've had my Fitbit Versa for about 18mths, no problems until today. I checked the battery last night about 60%, it buzzed this morning for the alarm and again for the hourly step count after that it went off, and is not responding to any of the restart suggestions.

My Versa 2 is the same.  It started have issues when I was out running yesterday.  I put it to charge after the battery died.  But it got no charge.  It is not even turning on.

Mine was working fine in the morning, got stuck with 1 single notification that would not clear so I switched it off.  I have tried starting it up but it keeps giving me “To Start Download the Fitbit App” in every language!  I have deleted it from my app and tried to add it but it only goes as far as the “Connecting to Device” but nothing happens.
