Fitbit Versa unable to set up on IPad Pro 9.7

My family and I have had many Fitbits in the past and never a set up problem. Got the Versa and have 7 hours invested and still not working. Spent 1 hour on with the chat line last night to no avail as all they did was walk me through what I had already done through the online instructions. Problem: Set up all goes well until I get to the Select Setup screen and then in a blink of an eye it cannot find anything, even when sitting on top of the router. I was able to get it to work once with my Dell Tablet but that was with the charger plugged directly into the tablet with the USB. Then to switch over to the IPad Pro 9.7" with no success, still does not see any networks. Bought two as gifts to my in-laws and what a disaster. I read through these forums and there seems to be a lot of problems. Maybe the release is too early. Any help?

Correction - not Select Setup screen but Select Network Screen.
