Fitbit Versa water damage

So I have had my Fitbit Versa since June 2018 and I've done absolutely everything with it from showering  to swimming in the ocean. Everything was fine until yesterday. I went swimming and it seemed the battery died during my swim, which is normal since I forget to charge it at times, I dried it off and plugged it in to charge, it wouldn't turn on for a few hours. After a few hours it turned on but would only stay on while plugged into its charging point. If I took it out of the charger,  the fitbit logo appears and I can't do anything with it .Also the battery is jumping from 99% to 26% and back. What should I do?

I have been told that you can’t get a replacement Versa from Fitbit anymore as it’s discontinued and being replaced by the Versa 2.  If you are given a discount it will be on all the other models. No discount will be given on the Versa 2.

Hi. I just claimed warranty for the second time for my Fitbit Versa due to this issue. I hope that this time it will last longer. I really like the watch but I have had two of them die on me while swimming without any prior damage.

I’ve just discovered I have water damage to my versa also. It is not a lite either. It shouldn’t be getting wet inside. What should I do?

I've had mine for 10 months, I have never swam with it on and never will,
too many complaints about water damage. We should feel like we are getting
all of the benefits that we pay for. Some don't. They won't take it back
after the warrantee expires, even if it's a defective unit. A swim proof
unit is definitely defective if it's acting up, or non responsive after
water exposure. If one's unit lasts longer than the warrantee period, that
could be good or bad. No more warrantee coverage if it should die soon
after the expiration date, or great unit that lasts and lasts.

I have a Versa and had no problems with it at all in water until this week. I was in the ocean and came out only to look down and see the entire face hanging out.  It was being held together by a few wires.  I didn't hit it on anything and had worn it in the ocean on previous occasions.  Do I have any options if it is out of the 1 year warranty?

I’d contact support directly. I had mine replaced within a week and no questions asked but never know with warranty. Ask who you bought it from 🙂

Thank you.  My husband bought it directly from Fitbit. Hopefully they will replace it.

I did contact support. They sent a replacement and I received it yesterday.  Although it is a different color than I had requested on the replacement form, I am glad they replaced it so quickly.  I will not be wearing it in the ocean again!! Thank you for your advice.

I actually wish I’d asked for a different colour. Glad they sorted it fast. I’ve never worn mine in the shower but swimming in the pool was where mine went wrong. Regardless if I wanted to have a watch that I had to keep taking off then I could get one for $5 so I’d suggest not to change activities. If it is damaged again then maybe ask for refund as it doesn’t do as advertised and legally they are required to

I went swimming with my Fitbit Versa, and it turned on and then two minutes later it shut off. After I charged it and it still didn’t turn on! I’ve charged it all day. What should I do?

I would call Fitbit support. My issue was the watch falling apart, but they were very helpful .

I have had mine for just as long. I have showered and swam with it, and sweat a lot while wearing it at the gym. I have always dried it off after each use. All of a sudden my screen started to go on the fritz and and would not turn on unless it was on the charger. Of course the answer as always is "try resetting it". Nope, no luck as it wouldn't even allow me to reset it. I asked what may be causing this and expressed some dissatisfaction. It responded with "sorry for inconvenience but we are glad you enjoy the product" wtf!?!? This is my 3rd fitbit and all 3 break apart at 18 months or less. I am disappointed.

If it's past warranty date than they only offer you 25% off. I just had this happen. My fitbit appeared to have gotten waterlogged and the warranty ended that June as well. They offered me 25% off. At that time, Black friday sales had a better deal than the discount they provided. I downgraded to the Inspire because it was cheaper. So I still have my discount and it can ONLY be used on watches. Why would I need another watch now. Customer service is actually a bit disappointing.

Did you find a solution or a better waterproof tracker? My Versa also does after 18 months and I am extremely disappointed that this is an issue and fitbit is not addressing it.

I have had my verse for quite sometime and I wore it in the pool the other day and now it doesn’t work. I can see moisture in the back of the watch through the 4 little windows. Any suggestions on what to do?

thank you in advance.

I would contact Fitbit. They were helpful in trouble shooting before
determining that the damage to my watch was not able to be mitigated.

No miraculous words of wisdom here, sorry. I am just not wearing it in the water any more. You can add the activity later so that is what I am doing.

I got mine as a gift. My friend bought it for me from a pawn shop. The person who pawned it reused the warranty before putting it in pawn

When I got mine, it was brand new. I could shower in it, do dishes in it, etc. the minute I went swimming, it stopped working. I tried for a week to get it to work with no avail.

I try contacting Fitbit and they said because the warranty was already used, I was SOL.

Fast forward three months later, I put it on the charger and it started working! It worked all day until I did some light dishes.

Now, it won’t turn on or charge. It was at 70% five minutes ago.

I feel like this “water resistant” idealism is a lie and a scam from Fitbit. They throw their clients new ones and say “I’m sorry” instead of being honest and loyal to their customers; the question is, why? To make more money? To make people upgrade?

Anyway, thanks Fitbit. Disappointed for a SECOND time because of your false advertisements.
