Doing a factory reset won't remove your steps as they are synced and stored on fitbit servers. So once you reset your watch and it syncs, it will download the steps again from the server.

You can try the following to see if it removes the steps.

  1. Open the fitbit app on your phone and tap the exercise tile.
  2. Tap the stopwatch icon with the + in the top right hand corner
  3. Select the log previous tab.
  4. Now in the exercise type field type driving.
  5. Select the date and time of the period you wish to remove the steps from, and then set the duration.
  6. Now tap the pink log it button.

The steps should now hopefully be removed from you account, you can now sync you watch again and they should also be removed from there
