Fitbit app and Versa 2 showing different distance

So it seems I'm not the only one with an issue with my Versa 2. I've seen that some recommend having the app run in the background on my phone while trying to use my Versa 2 on my walk as it would typically only say "connecting..." while I walk even though I've got it synced to my Android and have played with unlinking the Bluetooth and my Versa and reconnecting it. But today I literally had to have my app run in the foreground while walking to get it to sync. But after walking today I compared my app info to my Versa 2 and the app states that I walked 1.86 mi whereas my Versa stated 1.04 mi. I shouldn't be having issues with the main basic function of the fitbit- recording activity information, but that aside, I AM having these issues. Any idea how to fix this?

@LEMP80 Welcome to the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Fitbit Versa 2 will use your stride length which is determined by your height and sex. However, your Fitbit app will use your GPS to track the distance. This is why your watch and your app will show different information. Learn more about it by checking this article: How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

I would like you to confirm you have followed these steps to use connected GPS. Also, please let me know the phone you're using.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.
