Fitbit double counting steps during exercise??

Hi all,

So I did a workout today on the cross trainer and I also run. When I do these activities I use the exercise mode on my fit bit versa. I have noticed that it increases my step count when I am completing the exercise and then also gives me an overview of calories burned once I end the workout.

However, is it giving me double the calories it should because it is logging my steps during my workout and giving me exercise credit? How do I ensure that I am not getting double credit during my workouts? I am also looking to lose weight so don't want to unintentionally eat more thinking I have more calories available than I actually do.

Thanks

I’m curious how to remedy this as well.

Today I completed a run/walk on the treadmill and did 4.5 miles. My watch seemed to recognize when I was walking and counted my steps, but must have stopped when I was running because it only tracked my distance at 1.8. When I was finished I logged my workout, and it double counted everything, added my mileage all together and gave me 14,000 steps which was maybe close but not accurate (closer to 10,000)

I don’t want to have to take off my watch when I do certain exercises because I like to watch my heart rate. At the same time I also want slightly more accurate steps/miles especially on days I work out

Same here. Fitbit?

Versa. I found that if you edit your exercise log it will overwrite and fix the step count.

Example: you’re on a treadmill and do 1 mile, but it also auto tracked for some time and gave you .6 miles so almost doubled step count. In your app if you add the exercise for 1 mile in the accurate time span it will adjust and cancel out the auto tracked steps.

Hope that makes sense
