Fitbit got very hot to the touch and stopped working

When I was at dinner last night my fitbit started to get very warm, then hot and uncomfortable on my skin.  I took it off, for a bit, then put it back on.  In the middle of the night I checked to see what time it was and it was a black screen and wouldn't come on.  I put it on the charger but it didn't light up or charge all night.
