Fitbit versa died and won't restart

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Fitbit versa left main button started to not work, restarted it and it worked OK. Then it ran out of battery very quickly, I've recharged it over night and it won't turn on again. I've held all buttons for 10secs and nothing. What do I do?

Did you figure out a fix? This maybe have been the cause of my versa not working. I was at the pool & my phone notified me it lost internet connection. So it switched to data. And in that time my versa blacked out & now won't even power on.

I didn’t get to fix it by myself. I did all the troubleshooting they told me and took a video and sent it to them. Those troubleshooting didn’t work. They replaced my charger at first and then when it still didn’t work, they sent me the pebble Versa replacement.

I do think it has to do something with moisture coz it’s only rare I take off my Versa when I shower. I only took it to the pool once too, a month before it blacked out.

I had my versa for almost 4 months and the battery suddenly started draining fast (within the past 2 weeks).  I did not even swim with the watch or do anything different.  It would only stay charged 1 full day max.  So I had to start charging it every night.  Last night I put it on the charger and when I took it off the charger it felt warm/hot and would not turn on.  None of the functions will work and it will not turn back on.  I contacted fitbit about the battery issue and they are sending a replacement.  Customer Service was great, but it's  such a hassle for an expensive watch!  It seems the only fix is getting a replacement.  😞   Hopefully the 2nd versa will hold up on the battery life.  Fitbit really needs to get on fixing this issue! I've seen far too many complaints online about this very same problem.  I had the blaze before this for 2 years and never had any issues with it.

I agree it can be a hassle but once they replaced it, your worries will melt away. I had to manually log in everything while I was waiting for the new replacement.

Let’s see by December/January if mine stops working again. *crossing fingers*

None of their "fixes" worked. Sending mine in to get a replacement. (Which fyi-depending on their stock-may be refurbished-or returned but never used devices) Kind of disappointed not much is being done to actually fix the Versa & these common problems. For a $200 watch we shouldn't be replacing them months into use or cross our fingers the next watch doesn't do the same.

Same thing. It died and won't turn back on. Another fitbit nightmare. They are sending a replacement...but who knows when and 100% the new unit will have the same issue. I HIGHLY recommend buying extended warranty for all fittrash, err, I mean fitbit products. Well worth it.

I just got back from a pool party yesterday. I noticed my versa acting a little strange. Honestly I’ve taken it in the pool plenty of times, for much longer periods of time. So I didn’t think that was the problem. I pushed the buttons a couple times and I got this message saying my clock face was an issue. I didn’t believe this. When I got home I just put it on the charger because it said 0% which again I didn’t believe because this thing lasts a really long time and I just charged it in the morning to 100% After reading a reply in this thread that said to hold all 3 buttons (mine has 3, 1 on the left and 2 on the right. For about 10 seconds. I did this for longer than 10 seconds but maybe I count faster). Either way it worked. Watch is back to normal. Glad because I have a warranty but honestly I’d rather just have my Fitbit vs try and send it away.

Mardev - This is EXACTLY what happened to mine. Full battery, tried to sync out of wifi range, and the Versa went black. Dead.

Fitbit needs to fix this.

I was on my second Versa.  First one died suddenly after using it in the ocean.   Fitbit sent me a replacement Versa.   That one lasted approximately 1 month.  Was working fine then one day the battery charge dropped from 60% to 0% and died suddenly.   I tried recharging it that evening but the device would not power on or respond at all after several hours of charging.   The back of the device was very warm to the touch.   I called Fitbit Support and they are having me mail the device & charger back to them.   I'm guessing they will probably replace it but this will be my 3rd Versa in less than 1 year!  Wondering if I should just switch to a different device... perhaps the Apple Watch?

Yup. Sorry we're in the same boat, JohnSimas.

For what it's worth, Best Buy just dropped the price of the Apple Watch 3 by $50 yesterday because the 4 is coming out next week.

I have a graveyard of dead Fitbit watches. I'm done. Good luck to you!

I’m on my second Versa in 3 mos. And it just died. Black screen, resets don’t work. It’s extremely annoying to have the second one die too. There is clearly an issue with the product. What can’t Fitbit get to together?! Apple Watch :watch:️ here I come!!

My Fitbit Vera’s has been dying really quickly last week and today it died really fast and won’t then back on when I put it on the charger. I tried restarting from holding left and bottom button and still a black screen. It is not even 6 months old . WhT should I do?

I'm honestly getting sick of it!

So...first I bought a charge 2, which was malfunctioning from getgo (no heartrate, nutrition and sleep measurements), so I went back to the store within a few days and upgraded to an Ionic. At first the Ionic worked perfectly and I wore it with pride, everyome asking what kind of watch it was coz it looked so slick. Then, after merely 1.5-2 months, it flunked aswell. The screen was freezing, it wouldnt sync with my phone or laptop, until it suddenly died. I was disappointed but really wanted my Ionic to work...the store gave me a new Ionic, this was my third Fitbit. Again: I was super happy with it. It started with the battery running out within maybe half a day. I would take the watch of the charger before I went to work, after work I would get home with less than 10% battery life. Until, at one point it just didnt turn on at all anymore.

After all three watches from the same store, I thought it had to be a problem with that specific batch. I got my money back and went to another store and decided to try the versa this time...and guess what? It hasnt even been a month yet and its dead. Completely dead wont charge or turn on. So im back at square 1: again!

Im tired if it...please, can ANYONE help me??? Coz none of the shops can amswer my questions!

I bought a versa for my Mum in July he is having issues already. She set up to charge overnight but it no longer works she followed the instructions you gave here but It didn't work. She says if you press the buttons a thin line flashes across the top of the screen. It once displayed it is 100 % charged but nothing else after that.

What do you recommend she do next?

This product STINKS. It’s a mess. My first one died within weeks. My second after a month. And customer service is horrible. It takes them 2+ weeks to replace. Sorry, but go f*ck yourself.

Holding down all the buttons for 10 secs isn’t helping. I’ve tried holding it for longer but it does nothing.

I only got it for Christmas so I’m disappointed that it’s not working properly

The same thing happened to me. I put my watch on charging at night and next day morning, the device was warm and screen was dark. I tried to restart, cleaned the back of the watch but nothing worked. It was 5 days before my warranty expires. I was busy and couldn't reached out to Customer care earlier. I reached to them 20 days after this issue. By then, my warranty expired and they didn't offer me any replacement. They did offer me 50% discount on selected products but I don't want to spend another $100-150 to get a new watch. I wish they had some service center where they could repair it. I'll have to depart from my fitbit Versa and I would no longer be using any fitbit products.
