My Fitbit versa 1 has not been tracking sleep stages. I've already tried the following:
1. Updated firmware to latest.
2. Restarted device.
3. Tightened it properly before sleeping.
4. Charged battery to 100% before sleeping.
5. Removed and readded my sleep log manually.
6. Tried on my non dominant hand.
7. Did not use "begin sleep now" button.
None of these solutions have worked.
Anyone in the same boat? What should I do to make it work? Why is Fitbit marketing it as a sleep tracker when thousands of it's users are experiencing issues with it? Why has this not been fixed yet? Super frustrated!

Tap on one of these sleep periods, look below the graph. You should see an explanation of why your seeing simple sleep.

Yes I know about the explanation. As you can see I've tried all the solutions to tackle each cause for no sleep graph as presented by the Fitbit app.

If your asking for help, it would be helpful to know the reason?
Is heart rate turned on, and working, are your sleep periods longer than 3 hours.

Yes sleep is more than 3 hours. And HR is also continuous on the graph. I don't see any missing data there.
Also it is enabled with "always connected".

You say that your app gave you an explanation. It woul be helpful if we knew why.

This is the basic message the app is showing me:

That is the general help article, asking for what the message is on the app.

This is the ONLY message I see on the app as to why sleep stages weren't shown.

My versa quit showing sleep stages about 2 weeks ago, lasted several days. Tried all of the tricks, didn't work. I then changed a setting from normal to sensitive, then it worked properly for a few days, now no sleep stages again. I again have tried everything that has been mentioned, still no sleep stages. The heart rate monitor has been working properly through out this whole time.

Tried again yesterday to make my Versa show more than basic sleep. No luck this morning. My reason for getting the versa was to track sleep. My old Timex gave me the time very well. With the present lack of any real help to get the versa to work properly, I have to consider it an expensive piece of junk. Never again will I buy another, or recommend anyone else to do so.

I'm still trying to ascertain what excuse your Fitbit app gives you @GrandpaAl for not seeing sleep stages.
Once we know what the app says, we might have a place to start.

Fitbit claims it can't get a consistent pulse to record sleep. This has been going on for over two weeks. When I look at the pulse record, it shows pulse consistently 24 hours a day.
Just for the heck of it, I signed up for Fitbit premium yesterday. Magically, this morning I got detailed sleep readings. Now that's a real coincidence. Shouldn't have to pay for the premium service to get a function that is advertised to come with the watch

it is simply a coincidence @GrandpaAl

Finally I am seeing sleep stages. This is what I did differently last night:
Wore my Fitbit on the underside of my wrist.
Just a pure speculation but I guess it gets a better reading when it's on inside of the wrist.
This is still a workaround. I really wish Fitbit developers would just admit that there is a major flaw in their product as sooo many people are facing this issue with sleep stages.
Definitely would have gotten an apple watch if I had known better.
But anyway give this a try. Ymmv.
