Fitbit won't sync, why do I have to restart my phone each time??????

I am so intensly frustrated with this stupid fitbit. I only upgraded as my Alta died after 4 years.

I returned a versa the other day and got another new one, thinking the thing was broken as I kept having to unsync and resync it EVERYDAY. Everytime I want to update my steps on my app I have to unsync and resync. It is intensely frustrating that something supposedly 'smart' is such a failure.

To get it to work today I had to restart my phone, restart the fitbit and then it synced ONCE. It is broken again. I am not rebooting my phone everytime I want to do this either.

Frankly considering returning this one and going fitbitless from now on .

@JodieO Phone model and OS? Also, which fitbit mobile app version are you running?

An oppo A73 OS 7.1.1

Fitbit app is up to date.

I reset the phone, the fitbit, deleted and reinstalled the app.

I removed all the other Bluetooth connections but even if this did fix it, it's not a workable fix as I use Bluetooth for my speakers, car and headphones.

@JodieO Oppo devices (and similarly their cousins OnePlus devices) are known for killing background processes like crazy. The same thing happened on my OnePlus 3T. There are several things you might want to try:

  1. Make sure the optimization for Fitbit app is turned OFF in Android Battery settings
  2. Make sure Fitbit app notifications priority is set to High or Urgent
  3. Make sure All-day sync and Always connected are ON
  4. Lock the app in the background by screen pinning
  5. Downgrade fitbit mobile app to version 2.74.2 and all of the above. This is the build that worked best on my OP3T.
