My versa 2 has not been tracking my walks and runs probably the past few days - seems to have miles properly but the map is just showing straight lines and not the actual place I walked, up to then had been working great! Only had this a couple of months

Those straight lines mean that the tracker lost a GPS lock. This could also be because the Versa lost the connection to the phone?

Mine has just started doing this too. It was fine on Sunday. What changed?

Best Answer

This just started with me, too.  I think it coincided with the addition of the new functionality in Fitbit Premium.

I notice that at the very beginning of a run or walk, when the Fitbit syncs with the phone GPS,   there is a brief red error message in the upper left where the distance is that says "No GPS signal".  FUnny, because NIke + on my Android phone uses it.

If your Fitbit app needs to be open, then the app doesn't have permission to run in the background

I can't help with iOS but on android we do have help

My Versa Lite started doing this same thing in late September. The last walk map that looks normal is from 9//22.  My phone shows the Fitbit notification that says GPS is running and the Fitbit says it's connected but all walks show straight lines.

This answer doesn't help fix the problem.

Sorry @Emmetation this is a community board for Fitbit users to offer help.

What is it that you would like us, non Fitbit employed to fix?

Straight lines in tracks are caused by a loss of a gps lock on one or more satellites.

At best, if we know the phone type, we might be able to give guidance on what steps to ensure a constant link between the tracker and phone.

You also have the ability to contact Fitbit support.

Didn't mean to insult you Rich_Laue. Just wanted to point out that the thread is listed as answered but is not solved. It's an important difference in my opinion.

Hi, I am having the issue with my Charge 5 - what do you mean by "soft reset of the device"?

Soft Reset means forcing it to turn off and back on. As opposed to hard
reset which is a factory reset, resetting the whole device, erasing
everything.
Here are the instructions:
