GPS not tracking proper kilometers when walking

I've been walking numerous times over the last week and I've noticed my fitbit isn't tracking the distance properly even though it is connected to my phones GPS. There is a path I've mapped out 100 times, but my fitbit is missing upwards of 1-3km on a 6km walk. Even walking around my neighbourhood in straight lines i've confirmed with google maps that my fitbit is missing a lot of kilometers.

I’m finding exactly the same issue with mine, my strava shows me running further and faster, it means I have to take my phone with me every time I run, very annoying

I've just tested it out using both google maps, and another app. I walked a straight line where i knew the exact distance. The fitbit still came out short. However when I download the TCX file that fitbit provides and upload it to map my run it then shows the correct distance travelled. Spectra, nike run, google maps are all able to give proper distances even when using the data fitbit collected, so why can't fitbit interpret their own data?!. They all are able to give me a correct distance except fitbit is always way short. It has nothing to do with the stride length because it's being updated via GPS, and even when i did manually input my stride, the fitbit app ended up just updating it to what it thinks it is. My GPS had a strong single the entire time. This seems to be an issue stemming from atleast October of last year where I have seen hundreds of users voicing their frustrations on these forums with nothing being done except the moderators closing threads to commenting!

There was another thread here that was over 7 months worth of people having the same issue that recently got closed out without a resolution.  I'm using a Versa with Pixel 2XL (approved phone) and having the same issue.  My walks are the same path, and have been calculated with Google Maps and Strava (only by exporting the TCX file and uploading there, not both apps running at the same time) as 4.25 miles.  My Versa has recorded that walk anywhere from 3.6 miles to 4.5 miles.
