Ghost Steps

The versa is recording steps while asleep. Last night it logged 30,000 steps while also logging I was asleep at the same time. My calories and distance are accurate but the steps are not. I don't understand how it says I took 30,000 steps but only went .01 of a mile, it should have been 0 steps. And of course I cant delete the steps once they have been logged. Not sure what to do.

Less astral sleep walking 😉

I would do a reboot of your Versa to see if that helps.

I got the versa on Monday, saw it was logging while i slept Monday night so I did a reboot on Tuesday. But it logged again that night and so I tried the reboot a second time. Nothing.

I returned one for doing this while charging. Now my new one is doing the same thing adding steps while it’s charging. Any help from Fitbit about this issue would be appreciated because it really does me no good if it’s not accurately counting steps lol

I am having the same issue. I got mine yesterday and charged it overnight. I woke up to 52,000 steps but 0 distance. Something is obviously wrong. I would like to know if Fitbit has a solution to this. Having an accurate step count is the most important part of having this device. If this can't be resolved I will have to return it and get an Apple Watch.

I returned my second one, I’m just gonna wait till I know this issue has been fixed like an update or something. Love the look of the device it’s nice just no use if it’s not counting steps properly.

People having this issue I suggest doing at least three restarts. If that doest stop these enormous step counts try a factory reset (In the settings app on the watch). If it still does it contact Support (link in my signature ) or return it to the store you bought it as something is very wrong! Let us know what happens

I’ve had this issue with two versas now. Just returned my second. I’ve restarted, reset on both and it didn’t work. With it being two there’s an issue somewhere. I’m gonna just purchase one maybe a different color or something later.

Update...I found out that the fan thing is real. I had the device charging on my nightstand next to one of those room air filters. That did make it count steps that obviously didn't happen. Not sure why this model is so much more sensitive than the Charge HR that I had before this one. I always charged that one on the nightstand without it counting ghost steps.

I guess the good part of this whole thing is that 57,574 steps in one day makes me look really good...at least in the app. 🙂

Well at least you found out why yours was doing that. Mine was just on my tv stand, I don’t have a fan blowing any kind of air in that direction. So I have no idea why mine was doing it. I do have cats but there’s no way they’d cause that much disruption without me hearing it at night. lol keep us updated if it continues doing it or if that fixed it.
