I know that we can use pandora and deezer but i already have a google play subscription. It's quite frustrating that i may have to subscricbe to yet another service so that i can listen to a wider amout of music.

Once again I got the proof that the following quote is valid:
"Do not argue with a fool. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience."
For all users that might read this topic:
The point is that the Google Music apps for Galaxy Watch, Apple Watch and Wear OS are made by Google because Google Play Music does not have a suitable API for any independent developer.
Look at the Clock app in Android and developed by Google: it integrates with Spotify and not with Google Play Music itself because it simply can't, isn't ridiculous?
The problem is that it's Google Play Music that is proprietary hence only Google can write an app for Fitbit.
So please keep sending feedback to Google to ask an app for Fitbit OS.

Well I mean currently people are more of fighting to have Spotify on the Versa.. However, afaik I read you can still control the music via your watch, it just has to play from the phone.. I hope that's true.

I'm in your same position however the only is that Google releases a Google Play Music App for Ionic. There is nothing that Fitbit can do.

@taijitu It is! Fitbit Ionic and Versa (and Blaze and Surge) have something called Bluetooth classic that you can pair to the phone as a regular Bluetooth device (from Bluetooth settings instead of using the Fitbit App) and that will allow you to control the music playing from certain apps that. I know Spotify is one of those.
I just wish it would work with my phone
It's not required in iPhones, though. Just with the standard pairing you will be able to do that.

Keep in mind that the feature suggestion needs to be commented and upvoted on the Google Play Music community/support forums.
It's really hard for Fitbit to push companies into thinking that they need to develop apps for a new system if they don't know themselves that there's a huge part of their own customers that would want that to happen.
The only way that they're going to do it without users pushing is if they think that there is a huge opportunity for them to get new users, and it's very unlikely for them to be able to think that.

Were you ever able to get Google Music to work on your Versa?
I am able to connect to "Versa Classic" via Bluetooth on my Pixel 2. By going to Settings on the watch itself then Bluetooth. You have to double-click the option beneath "+ Audio Device" so it says "Pair" in small text instead of "On". My watch actually said no Bluetooth devices found but my Pixel 2 found the Versa Classic and connected. I also had to enable Google Play Music in Notifications > App Notifications in the Versa settings menu under "General" so that when I start playing music it shows up as a notification and I can control the tracks. If you're using Bluetooth headphones it can be tricky. I recommend starting the music on your phone first so your watch can recognize that you've started playing music and then turn on your Bluetooth headphones. Music controls, however, are not accessible by holding down the left/back button but it shows that the Pixel 2 is not yet fully supported: https://www.fitbit.com/devices. Chatted with a rep at Fitbit and he said "Our engineering team is continuously working in order to release new updates for new phone models." So, hopefully there's an update soon since the Pixel 2 has been out since October 2017.

It is, the onky problem I have is that I didn't know my phone wasn't compatible with the Fitbit Versa befire I bought it. That is something that is very frushturating because no where on the package did I read "only compatible with CERTAIN devices." So in my case I can not use google play music because my watch won't connect to my phone.

Thank you! I'll give it a go. Kind of sounds like it makes the versa redundant though.

I feel the same way but there is a way around this but you have to be a bit technical and it takes time. You paid for the songs and should have to pay over and over to hear something you already paid for.
Go to Google music and download all the songs you want. Once the songs have been downloaded to your computer, follow the steps in the YouTube video by copying the link below into your browser.

You can tell Google what you would like by going into the Google Music app, go to the menu (three bars in top left), go to "Help & Feedback", and use the "Send Feedback" option that you find there.
Google doesn't read every post in their forums but they do read and track all the feedback they receive that way. Just so you know, they won't respond directly to feedback so don't ask them any questions.
