Green light on the back won’t turn off when I take the watch off.

I found with my versa that if I placed it sensor side down when I took it off it continued to track my heart rate but if I placed it on its side then the lights went out. Could this be the same for you?

Best Answer
No. I always place it on its side. The light used to turn off but has suddenly decided to stay on, which is quite bright in the middle of the night!!

ok. It's worth trying a restart of the fitbit. It does no harm and can sort out all sorts of issues:

  1. Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.

It might also be worth trying turning your heart rate monitoring on / off via the settings app on the versa.

Hopefully it will stay working properly. Thanks for your time.

Good morning.

I turned the whole watch off and then turned it back on and that seemed to solve it. You turn it off by pressing the big button on the left and the small button on the top right at the same time.

Ok, I have tried all the tips that were listed, green light is off when the watch is not being worn but the second I put it on my wrist back to green goes the light, I have reset it twice and turned the heart rate on and off several times, which it is off now, thoughts? I just want those dang lights off!

@kimberlycourt You can't turn the lights off I'm afraid. Even with heart rate monitoring turned off, when you are wearing the versa the lights will be on. Some have speculated this is for fitbit pay security (so it can tell if you take the watch off). Fitbit say:

"Note that the green LED on the back of Versa continues to flash even if you turn off heart rate tracking."

this is from page 36 of the manual at https://staticcs.fitbit.com/content/assets/help/manuals/manual_versa_en_US.pdf

I understand the green lights are to blink and whatnot. I also understand that if you shutdown your versa they should also turn off.

Tonight, my green light came on solid and will not turn off. I have burned through 10% battery in 20 minutes. When I shut the device down, it stays on solid.

I cannot seem to resolve this.

Hey, ReddMocha!  My Fitbit Blaze has the exact same problem.  It started about one day ago.  Today, I did all of the reset, turn off, heart monitor status checks, etc.  Hue lights are still steady when I turn the device on.  Frustrating when I want to wear it biking for over an hour but that's when the Blaze dies.

Full disclosure:  I've had my Blaze for at least 2 years.  I've worn out one of the metal bands, three screen protectors and have had to scrape mud, paint and food off of it.  I got into a minor accident and the bottom 10-15% of the screen has multiple black pixelations.  It is a heck of a well-built device.

I wish I could say the same! This is my second replacement in less than two years neither one has ever lasted a full year of what I would consider a mild use I don’t swim in it, shower in it, and when I take it off to charge it I often forget to put it on so for several weeks at a time it will sit on the charger.  I contacted customer support who proceeded to tell me nothing proceeded to tell me to do yet another factory reset, who proceeded to tell me to allow it to fully charge again, and to document how long the battery last. So after a six hour full battery discharge I again put it on the charger and when I removed it from the charger the entire display was nothing but lines. So it At this point, it is no longer functioning. And your warrantee is only in effect from the original date of purchase.

So for me I spent $200 on a Fitbit versa that literally last six months before it breaks. It was replaced under warranty and that one lasted about seven months. The current one that I have that is now broken and useless not even sure it’s a good paperweight lasted approximately five months however Because warrantees begin at the original date of purchase, I’m now out of warranty and thus I am now on an Apple Watch. And probably will never own another Fitbit!

Same issue here. 2nd Versa in 2 years. Customer service offers a "25 %" discount, even though it costs the exact same thing on their website.  Very frustrating!

Yes. I’ve had two in two years and two Fitbit charge watches. Battery life isn’t great. My second one is starting to fail now.

Yes, I turned it off multiple times. I even did a factory reset. Nothing worked. This was my second fit bit in 3 years, needless to say, I switched brands to Samsung active 2 much happier!

Yes eventually but it is awfully hard to get going again, to the point I thought it had died.

I am having the same issue with my versa 2 after I remove, it will have a red light and also a green light blinking.

The one solution is for sure is restarting the tracker, but again it will have the same issue after a few days.

The other solution that works for me is whenever this happens, I will just go to apps in the tracker and go to settings, this should be done after removing the tracker only if the light is still blinking.
