Grooves within the band connection slot

What are the grooves for that are in the slots for the band connection. It looks almost like they could be used for a Proprietary Fitbit watch band. Anyone else notice these

It's just part of the area that accommodates the securing end of the watch band, I guess to give it a bit of space for slight movement.

No but I found some aftermarket bands that were made that fit a bit tighter and use those slots
