HR goes wild when I remove the watch

Goes up into the red zone 158 bpm whenever I remove the watch. Put it on charge today thinking the software would know there's no heartbeat if it's plugged in but it's still showing a 90 bpm heart rate. I'm guessing this also skews the monthly readings as I remove the watch for showers, washing up etc?

 

Is it possible I got a faulty watch?

Mine does this sometimes too. I noticed the other day that it was reading 158 on the bathroom counter.
