Good morning

My husband has the versa. It's about 4 yrs old.

The battery does not last long. He has to charge the watch almost everyday.

What  could be the problem and what can we do. We love investing in the fitbit versa. I have the versa 2. By the way I'm currently recieving excellent sevice from the support/help group regarding my versa 2.

Thank you .

Await your response on the versa.

Hi @Naidoo1971  - the Versa is a good watch and great it's lasted that long. With firmware and software updates, and even minor settings changes, there are things that have an impact on the battery life.

There are a list of things that have an impact on the battery, some of which may apply - How to resolve the Major issues causing short battery life.

Thank u fr yr reply. However I don't think the above will solve the battery problem cause he doesnt activate the activities or change his settings unlike me on my versa. But I will follow yr instructions and see how it goes.

Thanks again

My versa is about 3 1/2 years old and the battery got worse and worse and finally just died completely, can't be charged at all anymore.  To me, 3 or 4 year old expensive watches should still work.  It's not even possible to replace the battery.  Fitbits are not made to last apparently, and are designed to make you buy a new one, it's a very wasteful business model.  I am going to upgrade to an apple watch, at least with those you can replace the battery when needed.

I contacted a Fitbit agent for the same issue. There should be a replacable battery. I am waiting to hear a reply from them if I am under warranty after 4 years.

It's called,
"Planned Obsolescence".

Everytime we update our phones or smartwatches it actually DEGRADES the memory, speed and battery. In this way, phones/watches, etc. become (or are planned to become) obsolete in 3 to 4 years.

Look up "Planned Obsolescence"

It really is evil 😈 but that's the price we pay to live in a free market society.

This isn't surprising.  Mine is a little over 3 years old and is getting to the point where I have to charge it every day.  The rechargeable batteries degrade progressively with age (or more accurately the number of recharge cycles).

Most people accept that their mobile phone batteries will do this so we should expect the same in devices like Fitbits.  It would be nice if there were a way that the batteries could be replaced - not as a consumer replacement but perhaps sending the devices off to a specialist.  But I doubt that is possible.  Few people now expect their mobile phone batteries to be replaceable so we probably need to view Fitbits in much the same way.

And being realistic Fitbit (and other manufacturers) want us to buy new devices every few years.  I think the problem Fitbit has at the moment is lack of brand loyalty when it comes to buying a replacement.

The same thing happened to my versa 2 after update. Was perfectly fine until update and IMMEDIATELY had short battery life once update was installed. Absolutely nothing changed but the update. Unless there is a bug fix coming, the “planned obsolescence” theory is the only piece that fits. Contacted support but live chat went dead

Absolutely correct

I just sent my one off to them cause it was heating up during charging and the touch screen wasn't working . Versa 2.

It's not even 2 years old.

I'm not sure what they will do but we have 2 fitbit Versa's and we probably going to look at another brand if they can't replace my current one .

After reading everyone's story,  I'm surprised that there's so many issues with the Versa and yet it's  so expensive.
