Having Versa problems?

I *SO* wanted my Versa to work properly. I had worn the Charge 2 for a while, and it was starting to look very beat up. Despite reading all of the negative reviews online, I decided to purchase the Versa. I bought the special edition rose gold Fitbit Versa, and I was SO EXCITED when it arrived in the mail. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The looks of the Versa are spot on, and Fitbit did a wonderful job with the aesthetics and design characteristics.

The first week wearing my Versa, I only had one problem; the Versa was over-counting the number of floors that I had walked. It was over-counting them HORRIDLY. When I only walked 2 floors per day (I mainly focused on steps), it would tell me that I had walked 100+. It was ridiculous. I decided to continue giving the Versa a try, and just decided not to look at my floors anymore.
After that, I noticed that the Versa was counting steps when I drove. One day, I had to make a 9 hour drive to visit family. When I started the drive, I only had 100 steps; I had about 200 more steps from stops at gas stations along the way, so when I arrived at my destination, I should have only had about 300ish steps; however, when I looked at my Versa upon arrival, I had 20,403 steps. Yes, that's correct. I was so upset. I decided to just use the driving app that erases steps from driving, and continued to give the Versa a chance. What finally did it in for me was I noticed that when I was NOT wearing my Versa (regardless of which side the versa was laying on) it would log my heartbeat going up toward the 175 bpm range. That was it for me. When I saw my Versa logging 175 bpm ranges when I wasn't even wearing it, I was done.

I returned my Fitbit on day 43 (just enough time to get my refund), and I am now again wearing my old beat up Charge 2. The Charge 2 is the most accurate Fitbit that I have ever owned. Unfortunately, the Versa has too many flaws. If Fitbit can re-design the Versa up to the magnificent standards that I have personally witnessed of the Charge 2, I will re-purchase and give them another chance.

The Fitbit Versa that I once owned, however, was worthless. Do NOT purchase until Fitbit fixes these problems.

@JesseJ1s89 I'm sorry you had so many issues with your Versa. Especially, that I completely agree with you on the design. I also own Versa SE rose gold. I measured HR during strenuous exercise vs Charge 2. Both were spot on. If you're interested, take a look here. I find Versa to credit extra steps when I perform a certain type of arm movements, i.e. blow-drying my hair or driving SUV. I was able to minimize that by changing my Wrist Placement setting to Dominant. Is Versa perfect? No. I believe you experienced all those issues, but I also know it's a nice device. I would encourage you to give it one more try. 😊 After all, you could have gotten a defective unit.

Hi Marrrmaduke,

Thank you for the reply! I was very upset to have to return my Versa, as I absolutely loved the idea of it.
As far as the HR, I also measured and compared it during activity to my Charge 2, and you're right! Both of the heart monitors displayed the same BPM which was awesome. Sadly, however, when I would take the Versa off at night (I don't like to sleep with my Fitbit on) it would register BMP in the upper 170's when I wasn't wearing it which would horridly offset my stats. After this happened, I read online to try and flip the Fitbit over on the opposite side so that it wouldn't falsely register beats; however, this did not help.
I also tried all the "tricks of the trade" and attempted adjusting my wrist placement settings on the Fitbit, and unfortunately this did not help with the over-counting of steps.
I very well could have gotten a defective unit, but some of my friends also had to return theirs. When I read posts about people like you who have gotten successful units, I am envious.
I do not think that I will try the Versa again until Fitbit talks about changes/updates that they've made (the return process is just too time consuming for me).
I certainly do miss the design though (compared to my beaten up Charge 2)...The Versa is absolutely beautiful.

@JesseJ1s89 Ohh noooo 😟 I'm wondering how much it was hardware vs software related. Personally, I hope Versa 2 is coming soon. I really like this tracker. 😊
