Having trouble pairing Fitbit Versa with iPhone.

Hi Everyone

I've just got the Fitbit versa and I have to admit that I am very frustrated. I have repeatedly tried to pair it with my iPhone 6s iOS 11.3.1 but it seems that the watch cannot be found. I also tried to reinstall the application and sign up with a new account but I still face the same issue.

I would appreciate if you could provide with some assistance.

Thank you in advance

Hello @Panos1986, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to see new faces in the Fitbit Community

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. If your Versa is still having trouble setting up, please try the following:

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone; wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Make sure you have a strong WiFi signal and that there are no other Bluetooth devices around that might interfere with the setup process.
  3. Restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen, then try to set up again.
  4. If you can't set up after a restart, reboot your phone or tablet and try to set up again.
  5. If you can't set up after the reboot, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your phone or tablet and try to set up the Versa one more time.

Now, after setting up you will need to update the firmware on your Versa. Before you begin the firmware update, make sure your watch is plugged into the charger and in range of your Wi-Fi network during the update. For best results, use your home or work Wi-Fi network. If you've never connected your watch to WiFi, see How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?. If your Versa is having trouble updating with WiFi, please try the following:

  1. Make sure your watch is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to use.
  2. Move your watch closer to your router.
  3. Make sure your router is connected to the internet.
  4. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  5. Try again to update your watch.

If the update fails, restart your mobile device and try to update again. If you your Versa can't update over WiFi follow the on-screen instructions in the Fitbit app to update your watch over Bluetooth instead. Note that firmware updates over Bluetooth may take significantly longer to complete. If the Versa is having trouble updating through Bluetooth try the following:

  1. Try turning Bluetooth on and off on your phone.
  2. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  3. Try again to update your watch.
  4. Restart your mobile device and try to update again.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I have done all these troubleshooting steps and it seems like I have to reinstall my versa every week in order for it to keep syncing.  It’s not consistent.

Hello @Stacey-p, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Thanks for sharing your experience with me and for letting me know you've already tried the troubleshooting steps to set up your Versa as a new device. As your watch is having trouble syncing, before trying to set it up as a new device, please try the following steps:

  • Make sure the latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone.
  • The software on your mobile device is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process
  • Check that your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.
  • Restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your phone again.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it one more time.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Thanks for the response. I tried everything you just mentioned.   I restarted my Fitbit twice....updated my phone....restarted my phone....turned Bluetooth off and on and it still won’t sync.   Does everyone have the same issue or is my Fitbit?

I’m having the same issue every day. I’ve tried everything you suggested. It seems to work for a day but then I have to do all the steps again. It is extremely frustrating.

Same issue here. Just got my fitbit versa, bought at HK airport. Doesn't connect with my iPhone 7+. But it does connect with my old iPhone 5s. Tried your steps but still doesn't connect with 7+.

Hi. I also have problems synchronizing my Fitbit versa with the iphone 7. I've done all the suggestions here. Nothing works. I've got instaled. But after that, I can't connect it with Bluetooth. Have repeated this process several times.

It works!! Thank you!! Wish I’d seen this article first instead of the 3 hour headache I had trying to sync my devices after it disconnected.

I have tried all these steps multiple times! My Versa worked when I first bought it but since I have had to reset the phone it won’t connect at all. When trying to add on Fitbit app it says it has found the watch (comes up with a tick) but doesn’t move in from that page and continues to search.

Have you ever gotten yours to sync? Mine did for the first two weeks and will not anymore. I have also tried all these suggestions. I have the iPhone 6s as well.

Mine says it found my Fitbit but then just runs with the Connecting to Tracker forever!
