Hear rate not registering during workout mode

I'm so frustrated. My heart rate seems to not be registering when I'm in workout mode. Half way through my workout I stop it restart the workout and then boom it works and my heartrate jumps from 99 to 150. Ive cleaned the sensor and done all the other tricks I can find online. Super frustrated. Hoping someone has experienced this and knows another trick I may not have tried?
