I checked the forum about not getting a heart rate read during a swim, and I love my Versa, love being able to jump in the pool with it, but I find the lack of a heart rate during a swim frustrating since that is an integral part of determining calories burned. How then, are calories burned calculated during a swim? I know they are calculated based on height, weight, length of time, distance, etc...but how does FitBit Versa know how hard I swam--and thus how many calories I burned--if it cannot track a heart rate during a swim? Example: I swam 1750 meters today (70 lengths) during a 41: 39-minute time frame (with 2'23 per 100m). I am a slow swimmer, but I know I work hard and my calories burned comes out to 285. Yet, when I go to spin class for 40 minutes I burn upwards of 500 calories in a class.

I don't think the sensors work while in the water. I had a Garmin that I used for lap swimming before the versa and it was the same way.
