Heart rate readings on Versa are too high.

I had a blaze for a number of years and found that it tracked my heart rate accurately (+\- 1 beat).  My blaze finally went out so I purchased a versa. I have been using it for a little over a week and it does not read my heart rate correctly, not even close it is typically off by 15 beats.  And it’s been off more the 70 beats.  I was watching tv, looked at my versa and it showed my heart rate at 123 resting on the sofa.... no way... I checked my heart rate with a different device and it was 52.   And again here I sit in the doc office, they checked my hr and it was 55 yet the versa was reading 76.  This is crazy, how can the blaze been so correct and the newer version be so wrong.  Someone said the versa suppose to be fairly accurate, is my just defective and I need to return it for a different one or is the new versa just bad at reading heart rate and I need to return it for a refund and go with a different product

Hello @Erohde thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Tell me, which clock-face are you currently using on your Versa? Is it a Fitbit one or a 3rd-party one? If you're using a 3rd party one, please change it to a Fitbit one and check if the heart rate is showing correctly.

Now, if nothing changes, please restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. Then monitor your heart rate for the next 24 hours and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, have a great day.

I’ve had exactly the same issues - reported it over six months and was advised there is a“bug” effecting the versa model and their technicians were working on a fix. This bug has now also effected my steps and notifications - the watch is terrible

I'm having the same! Just bought it, and I was doing my yoga routine and suddenly I had 144 heart rate? At the beginning? Disappointed!

I am using the Minimal Style clock face found under Staff Picks.  It’s the closest to my Blaze clock face.

I have restarted the Fitbit and and will try and check it through the day

I have the same problem and it has been going on for about a little over a month.  I was finally told that it is a globe issue with some of the versa.  I asked if she could send me a new one and she stated that if she did it still may not work.  I was told that they are working on it now but it does not seem as if we are going to get an answer any time soon.

It’s disgusting - I’ve been waiting six months for these “bugs” to be remedied! So far all my watch seems to do correctly is tell the time!

Well so far I checked my hr 3 times since I reset my versa this morning and

56/95

52/84

Same here. And on the flip side, when I work out now it insists my heart rate is in the 120s during cardio. My blaze I had beforehand always said it was in the 170-180s during cardio.

Having the opposite issue. My readings while running are super low and sometimes the heart rate drops out altogether during a workout. I’m ready to send it back and get an Apple Watch.

@MarcoGFitbit the watch faces have nothing to do with the heart rate tracking because the clock faces do not effect the Fitbit Today app, so if the wrong heart rate reading is showing on a third-party clock face, but if you swipe up to the actual Fitbit Today app to check the stats there and the wrong heart rate is also showing there as well, that's entirely Fitbit's recording - completely independent of the clock face.

@ Everyone: I just posted a solution here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa-Versa-Lite/Heart-rate-readings-too-high-in-Fitbit-Versa/m-p/35...

Problem solved:

the fitbit was returned for a refund and a competitor’s product purchased which for the past 2 weeks has worked great.

i am sad as I loved my Fitbit tracker.  I still have my Fitbit scale but unless Fitbit fixes their problems I, my son or wife won’t be buying another Fitbit tracker.

Since the water logging issue is the only thing that doesn't work perfectly on my Versa, I'm gonna wait for Fitbit to fix it. Not worth ditching my Versa for one minor issue. For people who have multiple issues and returned it and bought a competitor brand, I can understand that. But for me personally, the one little water logging glitch isn't a big deal.

I have some heart issues and need to track my heart rate and the Versa was just not cutting it.  I love the sleep analysis which does a great job but I needed something that was much more accurate for heart rate tracking through out the day and during exercise.  There are minor issues with everything but my computer brand watch just is much more accurate and reliable at tracking my heart rate then the Versa was.  I think it’s more of a Fitbit OS problem as I said my blaze worked perfectly but the versa not so much.
