Heart rate zones recorded don't match with graph

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After the most recent update my zone minutes are not added up correctly. Although the graph and Average heart rate show that I reached cardio and fat burn levels of heart activity (shown in orange and yellow), all minutes are shows as below zones. I have an iPhone 11 and a versa 2. All devices are updated. I’m not concerned with with small gaps in data but the minutes do not add up correctly in reference to the graph. This happens even when there is no gap in data.

I just updated my versa light today and I'm having the same issue. My heart rate is within and above my personalized zones, yet it states I'm 100% below zones.

After the most recent update, any exercise I have logged today is not counting towards my active zone minutes.

when I look at the exercise details, although some of it clearly reached eg peak heart rate zone it all shows as being below zones (which presumably is why it’s not counting towards active zone minutes).

anyone know why all my exercises are now showing as below zones, when this isn’t the case as shown in the heart rate info?

I have tried resetting my Versa, and uninstalling and reinstalling the iPhone app. I do not have any custom heart rate zone set.

Mine is exactly the same I had a brutal workout this morning spent the vast

majority of it in cardio zone yet says I’m below target zones even though the graph states otherwise

Mine is doing the same thing.  I will flag this thread to get moderator attention.  Something fishy seems to be going on since the firmware update.  Here's my example:

I also got no zone minutes for this workout.

I’m not at all impressed to be honest I challenge myself to hit my minutes and hit my cardio target etc so this makes me feel bit disheartened when I look and see no zone minutes yet I was practically blue in the face I worked my butt off done an intense circuit class then an all hip targeted class

I just ran the update and before I ran it my active minutes were there. After I ran it there are no minutes in the zone and the graph show that I have minutes in the zone.  Any solutions that work?

Hi there @Claudia_emily95, it's nice to see you around the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post, thanks for troubleshooting your watch and Fitbit app prior to posting here. I'll be glad to help you with your heart rate zones of your Versa after the latest update.

Please note that heart-rate tracking can be affected by several factors including air temperature and device location on your arm For more information, see: What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

Also, keep in mind that in the latest update you can now earn Active Zone Minutes and use personalized heart-rate zones when you track activity with your smartwatch. For more information, see What are Active Zone Minutes or active minutes on my Fitbit device? and How do I track my heart rate with my Fitbit device?

Give this a go and let me know if the issue persists.

Hi, thanks for your response. My heart rate shows correctly, it’s just that it it not counting any active Zone minutes for it - although it is within zones for active zone minutes. I have attached an example screenshot.

This is just for the day I did the upgrade, and activities since then are being recorded correctly. The day of the update is showing 0 active zone minutes which is incorrect.

Mines doing exactly the same??

same issue, since updating the fitbit versa today. Shows zero minutes in zones, but as you can see, I was in peak for most of the run!  I chatted online and asked if I needed to have custom zones On in Heart Health (it was off, not sure if that was after the update or not, but heart zones times for earlier in the week are correct), and she said it should not matter.

@LizzyFitbit -

Took the firmware update a-n-d the 3.29 iOS app update and hit the treadmill shortly after also updating my Max Heart Rate on the web settings page to reflect the adjustment for taking Beta Blockers, as they can prevent the increase in heart rate that typically occurs with exercise. The new Max for me is (220 - 68) * .8 = 120.

As you can see, zone minute breakdowns are shown.

Exact same issue. I logged a 130 Minute hike that was mostly cardio and the app deleted the minutes sadly. I wish they would just listen to us as users instead of assuming we don’t know what we’re talking about. If Fitbit isn’t counting 150-170 BPM as exercise zones something is really wrong there, and those active minutes are what draw most folks to Fitbit so they should work on fixing this immediately. The guy I spoke to on the phone wasn’t helpful at all and just told me to log out and log back in. He also tried to mansplain how to log an exercise 🙄

The guy I spoke to yesterday told me it was because my battery was on 84% the mind boggles! I train 6 days a week and if Fitbit can’t sort it out I will be looking to go for something else maybe the Apple Watch because I like to know what I’ve actually done

Thank goodness I found this string of posts. I had searched yesterday and reported the same exact trouble!! I would really like to see FitBit fix this problem ASAP. It is totally disheartening to see that my effort that I actually measure and matters the most to me, has changed. It appears that my data is correct today, but what about the months and years of prior data? It is still incorrect.

So today I got on the elliptical and waited until my heart rate was in a fat burning zone then started to track the exercise and that seemed to work. I have an ionic not a Versa so not sure if it will solve the issue with that.

Today’s been better started to record zone minutes but says I have hit 143 zone minutes but on breakdown still says 36 cardio zone and 72 fat burn which doesn’t add up it’s so confusing

Yea. I've been seeing some replies from FitBit? that are very unsupportive. A lot of the solutions seem to point at the user because of platform, or how they synch or what other apps they use. That is BS. My issue has somewhat been fixed for data from the last two days, but some numbers still don't add up. But that hasn't fixed all of my past data. I'm seriously thinking that my next watch will be an Apple Watch.

but, we shouldn't have to do that. i ride the Peloton and the data should just synch up without me having to hit the exercise button.

Hi, Lizzy. This has been a problem for me, too, since I upgraded on Sept. 2. However, if I log in to fitbit on a web browser, the exercise zone information is accurate, even though the iPhone app is under-reporting. Thought this might help your team to diagnose the problem.
