Heart rate zones recorded don't match with graph

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After the most recent update my zone minutes are not added up correctly. Although the graph and Average heart rate show that I reached cardio and fat burn levels of heart activity (shown in orange and yellow), all minutes are shows as below zones. I have an iPhone 11 and a versa 2. All devices are updated. I’m not concerned with with small gaps in data but the minutes do not add up correctly in reference to the graph. This happens even when there is no gap in data.

Marv...tried to set custom heart rate zones on web version (due to iOS APP bug) as you suggested but it repeatedly said, ‘unable to update at this time, try again’. Was on phone with support over 2 hrs & they opened a ticket. They indicated that even when you set custom min & max zones, it’s not a real time update & won’t take effect until midnight (FYI).

Also...support looked at my fat burn, cardio, & peak heart rate zone history #s (prior to firmware update when everything went to hel- in a hand basket) & gave me the min & max #’s to set in ‘custom’. Supposedly after I’m able to set the custom HR min/max #s, my exercise zone data will reflect #s similar to what I used to get prior to the update. Praying this works 🙏 Thx for your help!

Before posting the response below (after the "++++") I decided to try an change my Max HR to a different value (110 instead of 120).

I clicked on submit and nothing happened - no "submission accepted" message or anything of that nature. I clicked on another link and then came back to Personal Settings and the original value 120 was there.

We'll see what happens tomorrow. Maybe something did change in the past 48 hours.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

Unless something has changed in the past couple days, what support said about not taking effect until midnight is a bunch of hooey. I actually started a thread about them changing the Max HR back to the Traditional value at approximately 11:30 PDT on October 3rd.

I have actually made the change effective during a treadmill workout initiated on my Versa 2. I kept walking, pause the Netflix movie on my iPad, made the Max HR change in the web setting page on my iPad, sync'd my device using my iPhone and the change was effecting immediately after syncing. My heart rate zone representation changed - like I said - in the middle of the workout - on both the iOS app and the Versa 2.

So, support is either misinformed, which with my dealings with them in the past, is not surprising, or they lied to you, which is also not surprising - unless, of course the rules changed in the past 48 hours or so - - - Riiiiiiight.

Good luck.

Thx for your insight. I checked my settings on the web version & APP this a.m. & though it showed the custom zone #’s I set yest, my fat burn, cardio & peak data does not reflect that change. So, I attempted to set the custom zone #’s again & got this error msg (same one I kept getting yest.) 😡

No change in the Max HR overnight. Still cannot change it in the Settings page - I tried changing to 115 from 120 - locked into 120. Which for me, is what I need.

It's nice when a "bug" goes your way.

Sorry it's not going yours.

I suspect the server will reset mine back to 152 and not allow me to change it.

Good luck.

I had the same issue. My zone minutes were there before the firmware update and then gone after the update 😣

I wish I had known this was an issue before I updated. I just got the firmware update notification and updated only to find it broke my new versa 2 (which was already a warranty replacement for my previous versa 2, which was also glitched itself into a non-functioning state). Apparently a functioning product is too much to ask from fitbit, I'm really unimpressed. Maybe don't continue to push firmware updates that are known to cause issues??? Or give me a way to uninstall the update so I can actually have a functioning product???

I agree with you! When this problem occurred in Sept, I stopped installing firmware updates. I have zero confidence that not only won’t they fix what they broke, they’ll introduce even more problems.
Fitbit is no better than Apple in my opinion. Do these developers really think us users prefer ‘new function’ over a perfectly working device? If ain’t broke, don’t fix it!’ 😡

I want the old active minute feature, not the zone calculation..chatted with fitbit and they recommend keep complaining..said as of now, no way to delete the update to revert back. i think it is bs that they did this without notifying of this change. Programs are developed measuring active minutes, not zone.

Yeah, the switched the calculation with the update..said we have to keep complaining to have the option to revert it back to active minutes vs the zone

It's been so long since I commented about this. I thought I was good with the zone minutes, but I really continue to try to figure out what my actual minutes are. It seems so ridiculous to have Zone minutes and I am pretty sure mine calculate very inconsistently. In otherwords, I can do a 30 minute ride at a relatively low power output which I know isn't as much cardio as a 45 minute high intensity ride...but yet, the 30 minute ride yields greater Zone minutes. That doesn't make sense!!! Is this where we complain or do we file a formal complaint some place else?

Same issue with Versa 2 after update.

Did anyone figure out a fix for this?! I've had the exact same thing happen for 2 of my last 3 runs and it's so frustrating. Fitbit support have been no use to me in trying to figure out why.

I got told that there will be a fix... 4 months ago. Don't think there will be a fix at all 😞

That's a shame 😞 does it do it for yours still? Does it do it every time or just on occasion?

The issue is with all old tracker - or precisely - if you have old gen and new gen tracker connected to one account. My solution was to buy an charge 4 and nor using the surge and old trackers for sport anymore... That is crap stuff by fitbit

Sad to say but Fitbit doesn’t care what we think & now that Google owns Fitbit I’m sure they care even less (their goal is our personal data). When they switched to zone mins with the firmware update last Sept, lots of us complained in this forum & called support. It’s 6 mos later & still no change. Battery life is also worse & charges take forever to go from 99% to 100%. I opened 2 tickets last Sept. & never heard back from anyone. I find my Versa to be pretty useless now & only use it to track steps, distance & weight (like I did w/gen 1 Flex back in 2014).

Hi there,
It is now 8 months later, and I am currently experiencing the very same issue with my zone minutes. Fitbit still hasn't figured out this issue.
Thanks,

That looks like it happened to you months ago it’s happening to me right now I’ve barely had this thing for a month for the first month it was exactly like my old Fitbit gave me the numbers said that I was in cardio and fat zones at all the appropriate times and now it just says I’m under zone all the time even when I’m struggling to breathe during a work out it says I didn’t go up and then he zones.
