Hi, I’ve been having loads of trouble recently with my Fitbit not syncing across my active hours onto the app. An example is today it synced 9.00 and 10.00 then nothing again till 14.00 despite my watch showing six active hours. I’ve tried switching Bluetooth off and on again but no luck. The problem seems to be the hours when I don’t open the app and sync across, eg when I’m at work. Any ideas on how to get it to look further back than the current hour?

Hi @Chris-Aguilar - the app needs to be running all the time in background. Have a look at your phone battery optimisation and don't shut it down manually.
For other syncing issues see Why won't my Fitbit device sync?
The update of active hours is not immediate in the App, so wait a bit after syncing before checking.

@Guy_ I disagree with your answer and I don't have a better answer right now. My husband can't bring his cell phone into his workplace for security reasons. It's turned off and in a locker during the day. His hours sync fine at the end of the workday. Fitbits also store seven days of detailed data. Users who are going camping and will be out of cell phone range ask about this all the time. We advise them not to worry about it.
@Chris-Aguilar Sometimes I miss an hour, especially if I meet my 250 steps really close to the next hour. It's on my device, but not on my app. I have never missed hours in a row like you describe. I hope someone else can chime in.

@Chris-Aguilar- on the off chance it is an App glitch, please try
* reinstalling the app on iOs [or even Android ] also remains a possibility but first make sure your phone is recent. See Fitbit-compatible devices

I’m on Apple and have the same issue on both iPad and phone. The hours don’t sync across at all. So yesterday’s is still showing three hours missing. Very frustrating. I tried shutting the app and opening it again but it’s refusing to change. Thank you for your help though, at least you gave me something to try.

Thank you. It is annoying. I’ve tried all the switch on/off things to no avail. I work in a hospital ward so my 250 steps are normally completed quite early each hour. I’m not allowed to use my phone for personal use on the ward but keep it in my pocket. I thought the issue was maybe due to where I worked, machinery etc but yesterday it refused to sync whilst I was out in the countryside and walked 16,000 steps. The steps sync across but the active hours wouldn’t.

@Chris-Aguilar - thanks, the issue may be related to using multiple devices.
Try removing Bluetooth entries from both phone and iPad and logout on both.
Restart watch and phone and Login on the phone.
Go to the home screen on the phone without closing the App and click on the sync popup and wait for it to make a new pair and link, then sync.
If it still doesn't resolve it reinstall the app on the phone and do any special setups for notifications again.

Hello @Chris-Aguilar
I’d like to chime in (for whatever it’s worth) but after reading your post you mentioned this has been happening recently. Would you estimate the “recently” being about the last 9-10 days? I ask because I don’t personally use the Hourly Active mins function and I have it disabled on my Fitbit App but I’m aware of the function and understand how it works. Like you I use an iPad to sync my Versa 2. (I do see you have a Versa 3 and sync to your phone as well) But after reading your post I activated my tile so I could get a better understanding of your issue. What came as a surprise was that since I became a Fitbit member in 2018 all my Hourly Active mins read as zero (as I expected because the function was none enabled and I scanned completely down my screen) BUT on May 29th of this year it says I had 3 of 9 hours along with another entries showing up until yesterday. Again I just enabled this just now. (See image below) I don’t work so my iPad and my Versa 2 stay in constant contact so syncing is certainly not an issue as I have my iPad open all day. 🤔 It quite odd that I have numbers showing at all as they shouldn’t be there. I’m wondering if there is a glitch going on somehow currently and that might explain what might be occurring in your situation. I’m certainly not a programmer but I would agree that something is a bit off. (For reference I’m very active and exceed my daily step goals everyday so hitting all 9 hours of hourly would be easy so even the “glitch” didn’t even recognize all my 9 hours since May 29th 🤷:female_sign:)

@SunsetRunner Your experience really doesn't add anything to answering this issue. This issue is about users who get their hourly activity on the device screen, but not on their app. You don't use the feature.
@Chris-Aguilar I can only add that once the app fails to give the hourly credit, there is no amount of force quitting, deleting, reinstalling, or restarting your phone that will fix old information. I tried.

I disagree @LZeeW as I mentioned I enabled this feature this morning and I too (although I’m a Versa 2 user) get the same hourly activity feature on my Fitbit App as well as my Fitbit Versa 2 screen. I have the same features both screen and app as a Versa 3 user. I know which features I use and don’t use. 😉

I’m such a numpty that I thought I had a versa 3 but on checking details it’s a versa 2 🤦🏼:female_sign: I’ve tried all sorts over the last couple of weeks or so but with no luck. It’s not every day either, just random days with no reason. Guy above has been helpful with his suggestions so I’ll give these a go. I messaged Fitbit via Twitter this morning and they said they could see my account and it was syncing fine. I’ll try the suggestions above and contact Fitbit again if and when I have the issue so they can check the sync.
Thank you everybody for taking the time to help me out.

@SunsetRunner If you enabled this feature this morning, then you will have experience from that point on. You can comment on this issue at a later time if you get credit for your hour on the device, but not on the app. It's very clear that you don't understand the issue at all.
@Chris-Aguilar It doesn't matter that you own a Versa 2. I have had this happen with several Fitbit devices. But like I wrote, I've never missed more than one hour at a time. I searched the forums and there was a problem years ago that was fixed by Fitbit.

@Chris-Aguilar- thanks for posting back, I hope one of the solutions works. It normally won't make a difference which watch you have, the information should be presented in the same way in the app.
I disagree with what@LZeeW says.
Actually when a watch syncs the data is uploaded to the Fitbit servers. Unless the sync/upload failed in some way, when the app is working correctly all old data should always appear, though the bits of Hourly Activity can take a while to fully agree.
Eg. the main tile can say one thing, when clicked on you can get another information, and clicking on the individual days may show something else, eventually they should all agree.
Knowing how the process works may help you isolating the cause of the problem.
Given that Fitbit has informed you that the sync is fine, it would appear to be a presentation problem. There is always a possibility it wasn't syncing correctly at some point earlier.

🤔 interesting @LZeeW because my Fitbit Screen clearly states 5 hours out of nine but my Fitbit App says zero on Todays date. I enabled it a bit over 5 hours ago.
