How do I perform a total factory reset on my Versa when I have disconnected it from the phone?

Hi everyone, I had set up my Fitbit Versa just fine, and I had set a pin for my card & watch. But then I needed help to switch the arm wrist. So I asked my friend if he could help me because I couldn´t do it myself. And neither of us knew that if you accidentally touch the screen and put in the wrong pin code while mixing with the arm wrist the watch will go in locked mode and says that you have to open it from your phone. I tried to do so but the thing happened when I tried to reset my pin code so I thought, ok, I will disconnect the watch from my Fitbit account and to a factory reset and start all over again. I have read some posts that tell me how to reset with all the 3 buttons and 15 seconds and so on. But it doesn´t work. And ofc you can't do a factory reset when the watch is "docked" and you cant see the buttons and definitely not be able to press any of them. So My question is. How I do a complete reset of my watch when it´s NOT connected to my Fitbit account anymore and I can´t see the 4 numbers that I should tap on my phone to connect the Fitbit Versa. Because I can´t unlock the phone in any way. It feels like I never gonna be able to use my watch again because it stuck in some loop - a catch 22 moment. So pls pls help me out here guys. How do I resolve this problem? And I just bought the watch 2 days ago.

Looking forward to receiving some good answers from you shortly.

Thanks in advance. 😉

Sincerely,
Haawkeeye

When the pin is entered wrong to many times the watch gets locked. This is very simple to fix.

1- open the Fitbit app

2- go to the Versa Settings

3- tap on device lock

4- enter your phones I lock code

5- set new pin code

Your now good to go. This is what is meant by "Unlock with phone*

See the Lock FAQ.

How do I use the device lock on my Fitbit device?

A complete factory reset is done through the Setting - Help - about - reset.

Once the tracker has been removed from they account, neither of the above is possible.

Fitbit OS hardware reset.

On the watch, hold all three buttons for about twelve seconds. This will trigger the 2-button hardware restart after about eight seconds.

- When the Fitbit logo appears, then disappears, release the bottom right button, whilst continuing to hold the left and top right buttons until you feel a strong vibration. This indicates the factory reset was initiated.

- This process may take several seconds, and eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays go to Fitbit.com/setup.

- If you fail to release the bottom right button in time or otherwise don't follow the procedure precisely, the Fitbit logo reappears quickly and boots without factory reset.

Hi @Haawkeeye

Try to hold all 3 buttons down and you will see the screen go off then back on.

Hi,

I really try to do this "3 button" solution. And it never works. I follow the instruction that you gave but somewhere I must do something wrong.

First I should press all 3 buttons, after 8 seconds I should release the bottom right button and still keep the back button on the left and the top right button pressed until the Fitbit logo comes on and disappears.

Or should I press all 3 buttons and after 12 seconds release the left back button and keep pressing both buttons on the right?

I'm really confused what I shall do, I just wanna do a reboot/factory reset on my watch so I can start using it again. This makes me really stressed and I'm very sad also because I don´t know how to make it work again. I feel so much pressure on myself because its lot of money that I have to spend on this Fitbit Versa watch. I hope you understand. I just wanna fix this problem that has occurred.

Thanks for helping me out. Most appreciated.

Sincerely,

The first issue occured when the tracker specifically stated to unlock with the phone, yet the user removed the tracker from their account. If the tracker was still connected to the account, it would be a simple 10 second fix.

Sorry but removing a tracker from an account will almost always make things harder.

The 2 main steps to gain access to the tracker are.

These steps are not a factory reset, which can only be done through the help - about - factory reset.

The phone???

Where you able to do a factory reset after getting rid of pin code? On android I would kill the Fitbit app and restart tracker and phone.

Hi @Rich_Laue

I and a friend have now tried to reset the watch upon the instructions you have given me. But we both failed. WE have tried to keep the upper right button and the left-back button pressed for well over 20 seconds, but nothing happens. WE both release the lower right button exactly when the Fitbit logo disappears and when you have told me to release the button. And I am wondering if it has something to do with that the watch is locked so the procedure can´t start somehow?

I still have my Fitbit account but as I told you my mistake was to disconnect the watch from the app, that´s my fault. But as I understand everything will go back to "normal" when I have done this hard reset of the watch so I can use it in the future, right? I mean as soon as the hard reset is complete I can reconnect it again to my Fitbit account and take it from there?

I appreciate your help a lot. Too bad nothing happens on the watch tough. But I´m very grateful and thankful for your assistance.

I would call support.

As for the tracker being locked, once it has been removed from the account, this 3 button process is the only way to get access.

Next time enable the the pin lock for Fitbit pay only, not the whole tracker.

If the tracker says to unlock with phone, why would a user remove the tracker from their account. This baffles me.

HI @Rich_Laue

I have just been in contact with Fitbits customer service. And they are gonna send me a new watch, just the screen. So that feels just great. Now I can relax a bit and don´t need to worry so much.

Once again, thanks for all the help and assistance. I appreciate it a lot.

I hope they send more than the screen which would be useless without the battery and the other supporting hardware.
