I went online and chatted with someone who had me turn bluetooth off on my laptop and install new device without logging out of app. Sent via the Samsung Galaxy S10, an AT&T 5G Evolution capable smartphone

Just tried it. Did not work. It should not be this difficult. Will have
to find a brand that works! Not versa.

Have you tried connecting through bluetooth (through the phone settings,
not through the fitbit app)? That worked for me. Once I connected that way,
I added the versa in the app. Works nearly flawlessly.

Ok, this worked. I kept the app running on my s10.  I Factory reset my versa.  Added the versa as if it was a new watch.  You Need wifi to do this.  

So right now it is working as it did with my S8.

This is taking a long time. I talked to fitbit and was told they are working on the issue.  I'm ready to get a new device, something other than a fitbit. My fitbit tells me when I get a phone call, and who it is, but doesn't alert me to text messages. I've  been through a number of trouble shooting sessions with fitbit. But have had no luck.

Looking for a new device soon! Definitely won't be a fitbit!

I waited 2 years for my Galaxy Note 8 and it never happened.. I'm very close to switching over to a Galaxy watch. I think there needs to be a firm commitment from Fitbit you have not been reliable or Timely on your compatibility testing and we all know it..

Given that this issue is ongoing for the last year, I'm returning my Versa 2 and getting something else.  It is unfortunate that Fitbit shows the Galaxy S10 on their list of compatible devices at the same time they are aware that text messages do not function.  I even struggle to receive phone calls on mine - it is hit or miss whether or not the call is displayed.  I'm just tired of installing/uninstalling, pairing/unpairing, deleting/reloading.  Time to cut bait and get something that works as advertised.

I just ordered the Galaxy watch. No more fitbit for me, and I will tell
anyone who asks my opinion, exactly why!

I find now  that if I reboot both and keep them close it works but eventually just stops notifications.

Nope! I'm done with fitbit. I got a different brand of a watch!
