How low should I let my battery go before charging it?

Just wondering if I should let my Versa almost die every time before charging it or Can I charge it more often like every second day when it gets to around 40% if battery life left? Is it bad to charge it more often, will it ruin the battery faster?

The more often you charge a Lithium-Ion battery, the shorter the life of the battery will be as they are life-rated by number of charge cycles.  I let mine get down around 10%.  On the other hand, when there is an occasional need for recharging at a different time, I would go ahead and do it.

That is not strictly true. Lithium ion batteries have a sweet spot between 20% and 80%.

Let us say that charging from 0% to 100% is a full charge cycle. A normal lithium ion battery is good for 300-500 full charge cycles before needing replacement. If you don't let your battery go below 20% or charge it over 80% the wear on the battery is greatly reduced. In fact, charging from 20% to 80% only causes wear equivalent to 1/3 of a full charge cycle.

On my phone I have an app called Battery Alarm that let's me know when the battery charge gets too low or too high.

Hope this helps.
