Community forums won’t let me “start a topic” (lame) only the devices can have a topic started. How can I completely make my profile private? I’ve done everything to make it private and hide everything except my picture and name. Only average daily step count is public or friends only. No private setting for that either. I don’t like strangers I don’t even know sending me friend requests!! This is not Facebook I don’t care about making friends with people I don’t know who exercise all over the world. I only care about tracking my own exercise goals not everyone else’s! I want my profile invisible! How do I do that? Is it possible?
Also that’s not my username!! I don’t know why it’s Supergirl69 my username is Supergirl88 everywhere else!! That’s what it says on my profile and on the app but not on this community forum. I don’t know how to change it, I tried and it won’t let me do it. So weird.

Hello @Supergirl69 thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. I appreciate all your help @Marrrmaduke and @SunsetRunner.
@Supergirl69 I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Note that the Community Forums have several sections, one dedicated to devices, one dedicated to OS platforms and so on.
You can make your profile private by setting the privacy of your data, as you have already done, but it's not possible to make yourself entirely invisible. You can choose not to receive Notifications from friend requests, but they will always reach your end. I know how getting an invisible profile is important to you, which is why I would like to encourage you to submit your insight as a suggested idea, where members of the Community can comment and vote for it so it can be implemented in the future.
Now, when it comes to your username in the Fitbit Community, this cannot be changed and the reason you were not able to get the same username you used in your profile is because there's already a person in the Community with the username "Supergirl88". Note that it is not possible to change your community username, this is to prevent confusion among members and allow for the use of certain community features, which are dependent upon a consistent username.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

@Supergirl69 Supergirl69 is your nickname on the forum. I am not sure why you have selected it. Perhaps Supergirl88 was not available? Once selected and linked to your fitbit account, you cannot change it. Supergirl88 is the name you typed in your profile. This can be edited here.
ETA: If you do not wish to make friends (receive friend requests or messages), you can simply uncheck the notification boxes here.

Hi @Marrrmaduke . I wanted to let you know that I have had both boxes unmarked in Notifications for Friend Requests for a long time but this just means I don’t get notices. When I open the Fitbit app, the friend requests still show up in the Inbox under Messages.
Maybe someone can explain exactly what it means to deselect Mobile in notifications. I also have both Mobile and Email deselected for Challenges but still see them in my Fitbit app (which is exactly what I had hoped would happen.)

I am actually horrified by this.
All of a sudden I have started received request to connect from strange men. I asked how to make my account private and the response from Fitbit was “you can block them”
This is horrific. I didn’t get a Fitbit to find a date, it should not be my responsibility to block all these creepy dudes trying to contact me.
Fitbit needs to DO BETTER and protect your users!!

THANK YOU !! I feel the same way!! This is disappointing and very frustrating I posted what I thought was a " accomplishment " to the community only to find with in Minute's 100's of requests by men to be my friend! What in the heck is that!! And I have been trying to find a privacy button ever since!!

Agreed!! I have no need to add anyone. I should have the option to remain completely private.

I came here to find out how to set my account up to have it be private and am as upset as you guys to see this is not possible. Sorry to read about all your creepers, “Pink”. Ugh!! I wonder what Apple’s policies and settings are with regard to privacy. Yet another reason my daughter and I are thinking of changing things up.
