How to transfer music from Versa from Mac?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

 Hi,

This is a little bit stupid, but if you want to transfer music from your Mac/ iphone you go in circles.

So, downloaded the FitBit Connect for Mac (macos high sierra) and basically is saying there is no option for Versa (last row in the app) directing you to Mobile Setup.

Going to the Mobile (Iphone ) and saying go to your computer! A vicious circle that is making me loose any confidence over the products of this company.

Hello @TincaT, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Thanks fro bringing this to my attention. Please note that Fitbit Connect on Mac has an option called "Manage My Music" which you can access by right-clicking on the Fitbit icon located on the menu bar.

Keep in mind that in your Mac you can only transfer .mp3, .mp4 and .aac files. Now in order to transfer the music follow these steps:

Make sure your watch and your Mac are able to be connect to the same Wi-Fi network:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon (User-added image) > your device image.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi Settings.
  3. Tap or click Add Network and follow the on-screen instructions to add your Wi-Fi network or check the Network list to make sure it’s already listed.
  4. Tap the network name > Connect.
  5. To see which network your computer is on, click the Wi-Fi symbol on your screen. Connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your watch.
  6. For best results, sync your watch in the Fitbit app, and then disable Bluetooth temporarily on your phone and computer.
  7. Plug your watch into the charger.
  8. In the Fitbit Connect window on your computer, click Manage My Music.
  9. If prompted, log in to your Fitbit account.
  10. On your watch, open the Music app (User-added image) and then tap Transfer Music. Note that you may need to scroll down to see the transfer button.
    User-added image
  11. Wait a few moments for your watch to connect. Note this can sometimes take a minute or two.
  12. When prompted, follow the on-screen instructions on your Mac to choose the playlists you want to download to your watch. After you choose a playlist, the download starts automatically.
  13. Note that if you take several minutes to pick your first playlist, Wi-Fi may disconnect to preserve your battery. Tap the Transfer Music button again to reconnect and continue choosing your playlists.

If you store music outside of the Music folder on your computer, our music service may not find your files. Add your folders to the list of folders the music service searches so it can find your playlists. To add folders:

  1. On your computer, open Fitbit Connect and then choose Manage My Music.
  2. Click the gear icon in the top right corner > Advanced Settings.
  3. Click the + to add the folders where you store your music to the Music folders list and then click Ok.
  4. Check to see if our music service found your playlists. If not, you may need to add more folders.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I've gone through this vicious cycle! I just tried this, this evening -- actually, for the past 36 hours + -- and still, Fitbit Connect on my Mac does not connect with Versa. When I right click on the Fitbit icon in the menu bar, it's looking for a sync dongle. I have a MacBook Air, very knew. What am I missing?

Hello @AAbb, thanks for joining the conversation, it's always a pleasure to welcome new members to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have let us know about this situation and for sharing your experience. As you're using a MacBook Air, I would like to suggest you to turn off the native Bluetooth (from the computer Settings) on it before plugging in the USB dongle. If Fitbit Connect is still unable to connect, please remove the USB dongle and try using only the native Bluetooth.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, give it a try and let me know the outcome.

Hi MarcoGFitBit,

I've tried everything EXCEPT purchasing a dongle. I tried Bluetooth off, on Mac and on Versa. I tried Bluetooth on. I tried one off and one on. I've tried and tried and tried. 36 hours worth of trying. Looking at my wifi, I can see Versa connects. The moment I use "manage my music" on Fitbit Connect, Wifi on the Versa disconnects; the wheel spins forever. I'm on MacBook Air, 10.12. It seems Fitbit Connect does not work on this computer -- as everything else is connecting, syncing.

Same issue. on the iPhone it shows Versa is on the network. On the settings it says no IP on the Versa. I've tried connecting the Versa usb to the Mac, I've tried the MAC app. I Gove up =(

Hi,

I can not even download the fitbit connect. I was able to download another tracker for fitbit £4, and does not have the music feature, Thinking on return, cos that was the main reason I bought it and I can not use it.

None of this works.  I've tried talking with an agent on numerous occasions and all they can suggest is sending back my Versa and they will replace it.  I am on my 3rd Versa and still can't upload music so once again they said send it back and we'll send you a new one.  Obviously there is something wrong with the the Versa, there are HUNDREDS of complaints and unresolved problems.

The irony is, when I got it last Xmas I was able to load and play music.  I had to reset it when I had an iPhone sync issue and now I can’t get it to work again.

Hi

This DOES NOT work and it's really not acceptable. It's a massive feature of the watch and it's insane that it's this buggy (even your suggested method of almost 20 steps suggest sidestepping Bluetooth which must be because of a bug).

Where is the solve from Fitbit?

I finally got an agent to admit that there is a problem with the Versa.  I suffered and spent countless hours on the phone with an agent trying to fix it and countless hours on my own trying to figure it out. I finally got smart and took it back and got a Charge 3.

I have to admit that I stopped trying and gave up ! Just a waste of time! Even if it worked the solutions proposed it s still to much , to complicated , to time consuming !

Maybe they should advert that it s not suitable for OS products.

I dealt with this for a while and found that the issue appears to be with using Facebook or Google to sign into your account through the Facebook Connect App on the Mac. Once you log in directly to FitBit, the app then was able to recognize my watch and I am able to load music over the Wi-Fi just fine.

I can login to the mobile app through the Facebook authentication and things work fine, just not on the computer to load music with the Versa.

@307Firefighter thank you so much! I have been searching all day for how to get my Versa to sync up, and all the typical bluetooth/wifi/connect app etc solutions did not work at all. I happened to see your comment just as I was resigning myself to sending the fitbit back and it works. As soon as I stopped using Facebook to sign in everything was fine. Thanks!

These people have no idea how to write a comprehensible set of instructions.  Just use your phone to listen to music.

I can't see an answer to this problem. Looking at all the posts it seems there is no answer. I have the Fitbit desktop app on my iMac. I have the Fitbit app on my iPhone 7. There was no problem it is connected to my wifi. It looks like your instructions say to click on the Fitbit icon in the tool bar of the desktop app. That does not get me to "manage my music". I can't even find that option. Is there an answer out there? I don't see anyone saying they were able to transfer music.

If you can't transfer music it would be nice to at least be able to control it like the Blaze did.
