Unfortunately, you can't turn off the light. Even if you turn off heart rate tracking fitbit say:
"To preserve battery life on your device, you can turn off heart-rate tracking. Note that the LEDs on the back of your device will continue to flash."
Taken from: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1565
However, that same help file says:
"Allergy to visible light is extremely rare, and the LEDs are on the visible spectrum, similar to the lights in your home or office. The LEDs have very low power so they won't burn your skin, and they're programmed to shut down if your device freezes or can't find a signal."

I do not know but if you go to Settings> Heart Rate it gives you the option to turn it on our off.

@HappyHiker28 that setting does indeed turn off heart rate tracking but, as it says in the manual, it does not turn off the lights. I believe the light has to stay on so that it can tell if the fitbit is being worn or not (which is important for use of PIN security)

this is my 3rd fitbit. First two were Blaze's. The Green light used to turn off when the heart rate monitor was turned off. there is no reason for it to be on all the time. I just got a new Versa and I'm very unhappy the light keeps pulsing after I've turned the heart rate monitor off!

I took a small piece of paper, just big enough to cover the light on back of versa, and taped it on with scotch tape. No light on anymore. I think the light was making me dizzy, so we will see if no light will help.

I suggest black electrical tape. Might work even better! I use it to cover all the LEDs that light up my room at night and it works wonders (seriously why does everything need a green or blue light that says HEY I EXIST).

Good idea! I don't know if the black tape would get gooey and hard to remove if I wanted to use the pulse again. Does the pulse light effect anyone else?

I wish to have the green light off at night but not during the day when active. I wish there was a way to schedule the green light on for heart rate monitor and off for sleeping or even relaxing watching TV at night. Only on when active.

I always have problems with mine syncing to my Android phone. I have to restart my phone and my Fitbit has to be turned on and off in order to make it work sometimes

I wish the light would turn off. I've tried everything. There is no reason for it. I ended up putting black electrical tape on it. What a defect!

It does. Sucks. You'd like a company as but as fitbit (now Google) could figure out how to make a watch without a flashing light constantly on. I miss pebble. 😢

I don't wear mine much anymore. Just seems like it makes me anxious and make my pulse higher than when not wearing. I took a tiny piece of paper and then a tiny piece of scotch tape over that, and it will make the light stay off. Also turned off the pulse on the fitbit too but it doesn't stop the light. The fitbit should still keep track of the steps yet.
