Hypothetical: do I need my phone to be near me to change Spotify song?

E.g. when I am running, with wireless headphones I would ideally leave phone in car... I can start music playing in the car and then leave the phone and go on my run. Q1) would the music carry on playing q2) can I change music?

Spotify is playing on your phone with music getting to your headphones via bluetooth, so once you get out of bluetooth range from your phone, the music will stop.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
