I can see text notification, but can't open!

I just got the Versa Lite, and after some fiddling, finally got the notifications to come through from my Galaxy S9 to the Lite. However, while my Lite now notifies me I received a text, I am unable to click the side button or to click open on the touch screen to actually read the message!!! Then it just goes to a screen telling me "nothing new here. All caught up."

Tapping the notification on the Versa Lite should expand the message which will only show the first "x" charectors. I'm not sure of the count, but it is enough to get an idea. 

Pressing open will open the message up on tv the phone, not the Versa Lite.

Thank you for the reply Rich. The problem is there are no characters. I can see on my friend's versa that hers shows the beginning of the reply. mine does not. It says only new message. below it gives the option to open on phone or clear. In addition, the only way to get even this notification is to clear "preview message" on the phone. Or the versa does not acknowledge any texts at all. I have been through the message boards and done numerous restarts, checking different apps, etc. At this point I really just want to return it and buy the Galaxy 42 I also looked at.

The Versa is only going to show what is sent to it. We need to figure out why and might need to know which application sends the notification. Does your friend have the same phone and uses the same messaging app?

yes. Both galaxy s9 and versas. Everything else is coming through fine except for the text messages. I am recieving the call notifications. As for the application, I am simply using the messaging that comes on the phone. I didn't try to add anything like textra that I see people talking about.

It's frustrating because it seems they should link and work  At this point I feel like I need to be an IT specialist to try to fix this thing.
