I don’t need the app. What happens?

I have a pretty steady routine daily and hit my steps target +~ 1,000 everyday. I don’t use the app for sleep monitoring. That just creates anxiety and ruins my sleep. I don’t use it to log food or water etc

So yesterday, I lost my watch face. The routine is to delete the app and reinstall and reconnect. This time, I deleted the app and the watch face came back!! So I wondered if I even need to reinstall the app??

What happens if I don’t “synch” my watch to anything? Does it get constipated with data and blow up?

For one thing, if your watch time ever gets off, the only way to correct it is to sync the watch to the app.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

If that’s the biggest or (apparently) the only requirement for the app, I can live without it.

That was just the first thing that came to mind; I didn't really think hard about it.  But the obvious answer is to try it and find out for yourself.  It's certainly not going to blow up with data - that data just will never be retrievable from history.

And you will never get any updates.

I forget the exact time, but data is stored on Fitbits for 5 or 7 days. After that it'll be lost. You just won't have any data history if you don't sync to the app.
