I get a "Notification service not running" message

Hello,

I'm seeing the following error message inside of the Fitbit for Android app:"Notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker." Even if I perform a restart, the error message persists.

Phone: Huawei P30 Lite

Thanks!

The error message has been fixed after I had reinstalled the Fitbit app.

I have the same issue. I already tryed everything (turn off and turn on the phone, same with fitbit, log out and log in to the app... etc) . Usually helps if i uninstall, and after reinstall my fitbit app. After i got my notifications, but it usually works just for a few hours. I never was this problem before, when i used huawei p10.

Dear fitbit, do you have any other tips, what should i do? It's really annoying 😞

Was this issue ever resolved? I am new to Fitbit and am regretting spending over 5K on this brand because of this notification service disconnecting constantly. I got this watch to track my fitness but also to stay up to date with notifications on my phone without needing to have my phone in my hand. However this has not been the case.

Here is what I have managed to figure out regarding this issue:

  • Notifications work as soon as you connect to the Bluetooth and log in to the Fitbit app
  • As soon as you walk away from your phone and go out of the bluetooth range the watch and app loses sync
  • Once you get back in the bluetooth range you expect your watch and phone to repair and the fitbit app to connect to the watch again
  • The app connects to the watch however you then start getting the "Notification service not running" error
  • A restart of the phone does not fix this issue
  • You literally have to go into your phone settings > apps > fitbit and clear the data - this means you will now have to resign into the fitbit app again
  • After signing into the app you need to reconfigure which apps you want to receive notifications for.
  • Everything works - until you walk away from your phone again - then boom... "Notification service not running" error

This is the most frustrating thing ever! I regret this purchase purely because of the Fitbit Android App on a Huawei P30 device. I like the Fitbit Versa 3 watch itself, but the phone app is horrible which means I am not getting what I expected from the watch.

Had this issue for versa 1 & 2 on Huawei and Mi 11 pro.

Finally found this solution below and it finally work!

Battery Saver is set to no restrictions for the Fitbit app (phone settings) Autostart is set to on for the Fitbit app (phone settings)

In Fitbit app, go into your sense's settings, under notifications, turn on everything (calls, text, app notifications and so on), and make sure you tap on the vertical ... menu and make sure you don't have disable notifications activated. Can send a test notification too.

On your sense go into settings, make sure both sleep mode and do not disturb are off.
