I'm giving my Versa Lite to my husband but it won't pair to his phone

I’ve recently purchased a new FitBit so I’ve given my Versa Lite to my husband to use. We have spent all day to try to pair the Versa Lite to the app on his phone. We pair it and then it needs to update, it continued for four hours and then said it had failed. We have tried everything:

Turn phone off and on

Turn Bluetooth on the phone off and on

Turn the Versa Lite off and on

Restore factory settings on Versa Lite

Checked our WiFi connection

Swore at the Versa Lite

Said a silent prayer

Almost thrown the Versa Lite off the balcony

What is going on?! FitBit it can’t be this hard or time consuming to add a device to his app?! We are FitBit users so we know how it should work and normally takes no longer than ten minutes.

Someone help. Sigh.

Hello there @EmmaB1982, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've been having when trying to pair the Versa Lite to your husband's phone. Thanks for your time and efforts in trying to fix this, I'll be glad to help.

Please note that if you're giving your watch to someone else, you should erase your data. Some Fitbit devices allow you to completely erase the data stored on your device. For more information, see How do I erase my Fitbit device?.

Then, please try the following:

1. Remove the Versa Lite from your Fitbit account and your phone's Bluetooth settings.
3. Restart the Versa Lite
4. Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use on your husband's phone and trying taking your phone away to avoid interference with the your phone's Bluetooth.
5. Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
6. Setup your the Versa Lite on your husband's Fitbit account

I'll be around if you need further assistance.
